House on the Rock(s) anyone?
Jul. 23rd, 2011 04:31 pmSo um... stuff. My cousin's wedding was a success! It was fun and light-hearted, and not your traditional wedding either, according to my Mom and relatives. There was boogie-ing down the aisle and later everyone had a nice party and dinner at the recession. When it was time for the bouquet toss, Beyonce's "All the Single Ladies" was playing as the signal. :o
House on the Rock was so worth it! Mom and my brother and I had to hurry so we could have the full tour before it closed, but what I got to see was wow. I'd totally go again to catch what I've missed! Like the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. :o There was a room where newspaper articles of major disasters like the Hindenburg Disaster and the sinking of the Titanic were hung on their own frames. It was kind of spooky, especially when you were surrounded by happy, lighthearted aircraft memorabilia. :o

1. Before I went to sleep, I was watching Madameluna, DeceasedCrab, and enigmaopoeia's LP of Clock Tower. Then I watched the first three parts of DeceasedCrab forcing Madameluna to play Shadowgate. I went ahead and watched all the deaths in Shadowgate/Uninvited/Deja Vu 'cause hey, curiosity. So unforgiving!
2. I dreamed I was playing Clock Tower, only it was vastly different. Jennifer kept discovering multiple paths and different demons/monsters that completely deviated from Scissorman and the mansion, and usually resulted in all sorts of new endings and deaths. She's attacked by a possessed boy in one (supposedly her friend who isn't Lotte/Laura/Ann) and discovers a Houdini death mechanism in one room, etc. Oh, and there's an ending where you control a ninja to beat an alligator or a zombie, and another where you're a chicken and you set yourself on fire to beat the boss. Then later one of your chicks grows up and does the same. Kamikaze is inherited!
3. The last part of the dream involved Clock Tower being back to normal, but instead of Jennifer, you're controlling Team Chaotix. Cue Vector holding Charmy and trying to keep him from whimpering/freaking out, which is a cute and suspensful image knowing what danger they're in. Vector is trying to warn Espio that Scissorman can see through his camoflauge technique, and that's when I woke up.
HOLY SNAP. THAT WAS AWESOME.

I suspect the unfortunate truth is that the glorification of abusive relationships and disempowered female characters has become prevalent in modern pop culture. Look at books like Twilight or Hush, Hush. Female characters, completely in the thrall of emotionally abusive (and sometimes physically abusive or even murderous) men whose domination of them is painted as romantic. On the Internet, Twilight is often mocked, but that doesn’t change the fact that these books are popular, with a devoted fanbase of millions. When this cultural trend was only visible in trashy romance novels, and then melodramatic young adult fiction, it was easier to laugh at. What Other M demonstrates is that the trend is present in other forms of media as well, and that we, the consumers of said media, are mostly lapping it up — because it’s already part of our broader cultural landscape. As the old saying goes, fish tend not to notice the water they’re swimming in.
It's one thing if it was your usual stupid game or eye-rolling fanservice. But Samus? Samus Aran? I've heard bad things about Other M, but I never imagined the unfortunate implications would be so horrific.

Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah (orig. Leonard Cohen): As great a lyricist Cohen is, the original Hallelujah sounds... kind of hokey. Out of the 5476437687 covers out there, only Buckley tied you to a kitchen chair, broke your throne and cut your hair, and from our lips drew a Hallelujah. Wrenched our hearts while he was at it. You get the Sobbing Luigi, Buckley. God bless you.
Tori Amos - '97 Bonnie & Clyde (orig. Eminem): Okay, Tori has a gift for covering music in general, so much that it's unfair to compare her version of say, Smells Like Teen Spirit with Nirvana's 'cause they're both so different from each other (the original Rattlesnake by What's-His-Face is hideous though. Ewww. Thank god Tori covered it and made it into something better. :P) This is the exception. She takes a stupid immature rap song and turns it into a terrifying tale that's made me hide under my bed for weeks. Da-Da wishes you sweet dreams. *shudder*
Johnny Cash - Hurt (orig. Nine Inch Nails): Another Sobbing Luigi winner. Hell, ask Trent himself. He doesn't consider it his song anymore. That's how fucking legend Cash is. Having the history and pain to go with it helps too.
Gary Jules - Mad World (orig. Tears For Fears): Tears For Fears was about the bizarre atmosphere. Gary Jules turns it into a poignant lullaby. It worked so well it's gotten so that everyone covers Jules as opposed to TFF. No offense guys (including Lambert, who I mention next), but you can never break me the way Jules can. The second verse? Just ouch. Ouch. ;;
Adam Lambert - Fever (orig. Lady Gaga): Gotta admit, when I looked up Gaga's version on YouTube, I was so disappointed to find it wasn't as lively and upbeat as Lambert's. This was my intro to Lambert, and everytime this song comes up, I find myself grinning from ear to ear and I immediately want to sing and dance. ♥♥♥

Nov. 1st, 2010 02:40 amTo sum up my Halloween night: Lost Silver!Gold wearing a corset.
Basically, James and I met in costume (I was Sweeney Todd, he went as Dr. House) went to eat at Chilis, I read him the Lost Silver creepypasta, then we went to the 11 O'Clock showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show. Oh my fucking gosh, I had a blast~ ♥ I got to meet an Edward Scissorhands, Westley as Dread Pirate Roberts, and the Phantom of the Opera (who apparently has a sense of humor. XD "ELBOW SEX! ELBOW SEX!") I also found a Mario who was friends with Scissorhands and they sat next to each other in the theater~
The show was fantastic. The actors were amazing and the audience made it even better (as should be~) When it ended, we did the Time Warp again before we left our seats. I got to give Rocky a hug. I also got my picture taken with me holding a razor to Frank-N-Furter's throat. Poor Frank-N-Furter. :o

ontdpokemon and people unfortunately finding themselves in the same predicament as I am (aka gigantic PMD fans but their fanart folder is emptier than it should be, except for a couple moths), so I browsed pixiv in hopes of recovering some of my favorite pieces. To those of you who have played the final Special Episode of Explorers of Sky, I dare you to look at this picture while listening to this song. After a while of repeated listenings, you'll end up like this.
Then Puri discovers hot Morty/Eusine pr0n (Obviously NSFW, and since it's Rule 34, there might be ads. :P) she's never seen before when she least expects it. On Rule 34 of all friggin' places, and that site isn't exactly known for its yaoi. No censorship! No rape or weepy ukes! Morty doesn't even have his headband on, dang. :o Puri's mood changes to this.
I wonder what kind of sound effect "nnk" is though. Oh well, pr0n's goofy like that.

Why oh why did my Internet have to crash the day the PD secrets are posted? ;; Apologies to everyone, but replies will be slow. Baaaaw.
Before our connection went dead, I saw the most fucked up movie I've seen in a while. Blame the Nostalgia Critic for my curiousity, but I went to YouTube and looked up *thunder clap* Raggedy Ann and Andy: A Musical Adventure. Is it bad? Yes. But man, does it have nightmare fuel in troves! :o Worth watching once in a train-wreck/haunted house/OH GOD WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT kind of way.
- The first half isn't that bad in a "meh" sort of way. Not the greatest but I could tolerate it.
- Those twin naked mannequin dolls need to die in a fire. If I was Marcella (lol that's the same name as my current novel's protagonist), I'd perform an exorcism on them. "We're so curious we could die! WHOOOOOO WEE! *simultanous eyeroll*" Indeed. X(
- Same guy that did Thief And the Cobbler (aka Pretty-Art-But-No-Substance) and done by some famous animators including Art Babbitt (Blue Camel With the Wrinkled Knees). Go figure, Richard Williams took forever again and got kicked off from directing. Which explains the fluctuating quality of the animation. :P
- The same guy from Sesame Street wrote the songs for this movie. :o You'd think this'd help the movie, but no, it hinders it. Why? Because there's too frickin' many. I know it's a musical, but the point of the songs is to drive the plot forward. You could snip out nearly the entire songbook and you wouldn't be missing anything at all. I mean, they're not bad (at least most of them *shudders from the twins again*), but are they necessary?
- "Not a Girl's Toy" eh? No offense Andy, but Ken in Toy Story 3 did it better. :P Come to think of it, Toy Story did better in general.
- Hey flist, which of you have incest ships? You'll get a kick out of Ann & Andy, 'cause they share an entire lovesong between each other. I am NOT kidding. I'll admit it's kind of sweet, but my god, I think this movie is affecting my nerves.
- "Blue" isn't bad, but what's the deal with the hallucinations? Has it honestly gotten so bad for the camel he took up the equivilent if LSD so he could forget his lonliness? It makes no sense and I have no idea why the heck it's in there.
- The Greedy. Yep, what we all came for. Through the movie, I've been thinking, "Eh, this is pretty tame." But by the time we got to this guy, I started feeling sick. It's... a pile of vomit that eats itself. It's the movie's equivilent of Yog-Soggoth. Just... why. DDD:
- Go figure, my favorite song in the entire movie lasts about 30 seconds. You know the loony knight that starts hitting on Andy ("I *bzzt* and do it because I LOOOOOOOVE YOOOOOOOOU!") Yeah, that.

But man, does it have nightmare fuel in troves! :o Worth watching once in a train-wreck/haunted house/OH GOD WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT kind of way.
- The first half isn't that bad in a "meh" sort of way. Not the greatest but I could tolerate it.
- Those twin naked mannequin dolls need to die in a fire. If I was Marcella (lol that's the same name as my current novel's protagonist), I'd perform an exorcism on them. "We're so curious we could die! WHOOOOOO WEE! *simultanous eyeroll*" Indeed. X(
- Same guy that did Thief And the Cobbler (aka Pretty-Art-But-No-Substance) and done by some famous animators including Art Babbitt (Blue Camel With the Wrinkled Knees). Go figure, Richard Williams took forever again and got kicked off from directing. Which explains the fluctuating quality of the animation. :P
- The same guy from Sesame Street wrote the songs for this movie. :o You'd think this'd help the movie, but no, it hinders it. Why? Because there's too frickin' many. I know it's a musical, but the point of the songs is to drive the plot forward. You could snip out nearly the entire songbook and you wouldn't be missing anything at all. I mean, they're not bad (at least most of them *shudders from the twins again*), but are they necessary?
- "Not a Girl's Toy" eh? No offense Andy, but Ken in Toy Story 3 did it better. :P Come to think of it, Toy Story did better in general.
- Hey flist, which of you have incest ships? You'll get a kick out of Ann & Andy, 'cause they share an entire lovesong between each other. I am NOT kidding. I'll admit it's kind of sweet, but my god, I think this movie is affecting my nerves.
- "Blue" isn't bad, but what's the deal with the hallucinations? Has it honestly gotten so bad for the camel he took up the equivilent if LSD so he could forget his lonliness? It makes no sense and I have no idea why the heck it's in there.
- The Greedy. Yep, what we all came for. Through the movie, I've been thinking, "Eh, this is pretty tame." But by the time we got to this guy, I started feeling sick. It's... a pile of vomit that eats itself. It's the movie's equivilent of Yog-Soggoth. Just... why. DDD:
- Go figure, my favorite song in the entire movie lasts about 30 seconds. You know the loony knight that starts hitting on Andy ("I *bzzt* and do it because I LOOOOOOOVE YOOOOOOOOU!") Yeah, that.
- Great, boring Hitler guy. Everytime he laughs, he erm... inflates. LOOK POKEANON TROLL YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTER
- Couldn't Marcella walk to the other side of the koi pond rather than walk through it? Man, this plot sucks.
- That pirate scares me. He gets the equivilent of two erections (his sentient tentacle mustache and the bobbing belt on his belly) and somehow he still gets the girl in the end. *shiver*
It's... BAD. X( God, I hope Return to Oz is better than this. Heck, I think it WILL be better than this. Creepy? Of course. But at least it'll have a better story. >(
