I'm Puri, and this is my humble journal! I'm in Team Noir, but a few of my favorite ships include Dave♥Tavros, John♥Karkat, Dirk♠Caliborn, and Roxy♥Calliope. :3 I'm hoping to publish my original fiction and become an established author, though the process is slow. Thankfully, I have a loving and supportive boyfriend, and my adoration for him lights up the entire galaxy~ ♥
I'm currently catching up on a lot of unfinished books, anime, manga and games that I have been putting off for too long. I'm currently watching "Princess Tutu" and reading "Smoke & Mirrors" by Neil Gaiman, and I just finished getting the true ending and bonus stinger for "Mad Father." Boy I'm so far behind. :(
I also play Neopets and run an adoption agency there. :)

Let's Review: A Bug's Life

( Why this movie is a Berserk Button for Puri. )
( Why the Liar Revealed trope can eat a bag of dicks, especially in A Bug's Life. )
But let's be a little more fair. What would happen if I've seen "A Bug's Life" without all the emotional childhood baggage? What would I think?

So yes. Whenever people complain about "Cars" and call it the first "sucky" or "mediocre" Pixar film, I shake my head and point them to "A Bug's Life." It's an okay movie and while I'd prefer it over the likes of trash like "Cool World" and "Shark Tale", it's ultimately forgettable. And looking at it through the lens of nostalgia? Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate.
Someday I'm gonna make my own ant story, and it'll take after real life biology and have the ant colony be a matriarchal society. Fuck yeah. 8)

Nov. 15th, 2012 03:57 pmMy name is Puri, and I've been gaming since I learned how to crawl. I'm pretty old*sk00l in my tastes, since most of the stuff I like tends to come from the 80s or 90s. I'm humongously behind on Anime, though I've been on a Madoka high for some time now. When it comes to fandom, I tend to stay in my own corner of the sandbox; I prefer to read about fandom wank than taking part of it. I love writing fanfiction (more on that in a bit), but recently I've been delving into original fiction to realize my dream of being published. You'll hear about my novel exploits now and then. I'm writing an epic "Sweet Bro & Hella Jeff" erotica trilogy, then changing the names and rolling in dollars just like E.L. James. Just kidding.
I've signed up for Yuletide this year, so I've been brainstorming a fic for my recipient! Once I've finished my assignment, I plan on writing an overdue Smash Bros. fic for a dear friend of mine. Depending whether or not I have time and energy left, I might be able to do a few treats. No promises though, 'cause procrastination is one of my biggest weaknesses. And I've got MSTs under the wings! I like a good badfic now and then, and it's even funner to make fun of them! I may or may not do "Cupcakes", depending on if I can make the jokes balance the erm... violent nature of the fic.
One of these days, I'll post a gigantic list of all my ships. Beware.

- Does your childhood madness shine bright? This used to play on the Disney Channel in the late 80s/early 90s after it flopped in theaters in 1977. Who knows, this might've been something you've dreamed...
- 84 minutes of music by that guy who did the Sesame Street theme. Joe Raposo, famous for classics like "C is for Cookie" and "It's Not Easy Being Green," written all the lyrics and songs to this film. 20 whoppin' tracks, motherfucker...
- Richard Williams. 'Nuff said. Williams needed cash to fund Thief and the Cobbler, and reluctantly took over after the previous director slated for this film passed away. The hard work and trippiness shows here, but unfortunately, he wasn't allowed to cut anything...
- Yog-Sothoth is in this movie. Imagine if he was animated by one man. Then redrawn at least three times in order to get him right. 3x the horror for what is easily the most disturbing and memorable sequence in this movie... it makes me wonder what would happen if Emery Hawkins animated Giygas. :o
- Cuddly G-Rated Incest. See picture. Raggedy Ann & Andy are explicitly referred to as brother and sister, yet they can't keep their arms off each other. Talking about this movie means I'm not making this up.
