Jan. 25th, 2024 06:40 amI forgot to share my Yuletide fic after Yuletide ended, whoops. Here it is! It's a short G-rated fic about Peach and Twink from Paper Mario. :)
Sticker Star takes the idea of "paper-thin characterization" to its logical conclusion by including excessive self-aware humor about the characters being two-dimensional, visual gags like characters stacked like sheaves of paper, or having various models become bent or creased. Truth be told, the characters and setting played with the paper theme from the beginning — North American ads for the N64 game featured Bowser dangling Peach above a paper shredder, and The Thousand-Year Door even had Mario fold himself like origami. The first two games were considered charming and clever for their use of the paper theme, but Sticker Star's explicit comments on it went past the point of being irritating. It was also only starting with Sticker Star that characters were actively aware they were made of paper in the game's world, whereas the previous games were simply depicting an adventure of Mario's differently than normal.
Good god, Sticker Star was Marvel Phase 4-brand humor before Marvel Phase 4-brand humor.
Reading all the YMMV pages for the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi games makes me depressed and cynical. Mario RPGs have been screwed over so much and I fucking hate it. I'll still give Origami King a chance and maybe Color Splash (haven't finished Inside Story yet, I have Dream Team and Paper Jam waiting in the back of the queue), but every time I see those color-swapped Toads, I'm reminded of a time when each Toad had an individual design and personality and just get furious because of what we used to have. Sticker Star will forever be the game I'll never play that I despise to the very core of my fucking being, because of everything it represents. I'm not asking for carbon copies of SMRPG, Paper Mario 64, and Thousand-Year Door - I just want to not be disappointed anymore.

First, pick your reality show.Surviver Big Brother Fuck this! Our show's even better: Lord of the Pigs: The Dystopian Afterlife
What's the premise? 10 contestants are invited to a mysterious game show with one cost: their lives. That's right! Our contestants are all dead! XD But don't despair! Every one of them has a second chance at life, and they'll start it with a million dollars as pension! But there's only room for one soul to return, and if you split a million dollars among ten people, you wouldn't have as much money left, now would you?
The contestants are confined to a single utopia: New Pork City. They can stay anywhere they like in the city, but they cannot leave, for breeching borders runs you into risk of being gobbled by sandworms. Even in the city, they must be careful to avoid the Ultimate Chimera. Here they are given challenges to earn their right back into the world of the living: just like Surviver/Big Brother/Fear Factor, it's all Lord of the Flies from here. However, since you are dead, nothing can kill you. Hence the host can issue whatever challenge he likes, and you must achieve your victory in every possible way...
Who hosts it? Beetlejuice, taking over for the late Pokey Minch. New Pork City is stuck in a suspended time after Pokey seals himself and before the dragon awakens with the pull of the last needle.

After seeing Dustin's SSB screenshots today, I got up and asked Daddy if we could go buy an SD card. You know what he said? "You know, I think I may have bought one by mistake..." So now I have 1GB! *______________________________* You guys can finally see all the Jeff/Ness/Lucas/Jigglypuff/Meta Knight/Sonic/Lucario spam I've been saving! Plus my custom-made Sweeney Todd stage! *______________________________* Man, now I have motivation to play more with stickers and trophies again~ ♥♥♥
I found a place where I not only downloaded a lot of Legend of Legaia music, but I downloaded all the PSX animated cutscenes from Chrono Trigger. FUCK YES

It's... I dunno. People tend to usually draw her as a voluptuous figure, with big poofy lips with lipstick and such. (And well, Puri has a big humongoid HATE for huge poofy lips in art) I think sometimes with big boobies too. Am I one of the few who doesn't see Vivian like that? In the games, she portrayed as shy, submissive, innocent and sweet. But if you knew nothing of her character and looked on DA for art, you'd think she was a slut. oO;;;
I prefer Vivian art as to how people like Swammi draw her: I see her as cute, not sexy. I mean, if it's a character like Rouge, I would understand. But for Vivian? Nuh-uh. Just feels OOC to me. :/
A lotta these guys just seem better off drawing Flurrie instead. XDDDDD!

Aka, the anniversary of "Paper Mario 2: The Thousand-Year Door". I only regret that I played it while my "Mario" fandom was sizzling to a coffee break, and pretty much everyone beat the game but me. (My brother didn't make things any easier too) It was stressful and I didn't get to enjoy the game as well as I could while playing it 'cause I felt pressured and most of the game spoiled for me. :/ (with the exception of the ending, thankfully) Anyway, enough of my bitterness. Pizza, straight from Pizza Hut! And Vivian says hello.
I love this game to death, that I do. Doesn't get nearly enough recognition as it deserves. Though thankfully, it DID win "RPG of the Year". ;D
