The Juri-centered episodes are my favorites. :D I feel so bad for Juri, but I don't find myself enormously hating Shiori either. That's the thing with this series; everybody is flawed in some shape or form, and some are even downright horrible people. But rather than pissing me off and wanting to ragequit the product for its cast being too unlikable (*coughWutheringHeightscough*), there's qualities about the characters that are fascinating, even endearing. Like Touga and Saionji are assholes, but they're such stupid kids that I wanted to see them be friends again. Any other series, I would've despised Nanami, but she's such a butt-monkey it's hard to get mad at her for long; hell, I felt downright sorry for her during her last arc in the series. D: I appreciated having the nicer characters to balance things out (Miki, Wakaba), and their fatal flaws didn't turn me off them at all... instead, they felt a lot more realistic. Like Miki's need for the "shining thing," I've seen a lot of people grasping for something like that. And Wakaba's need to be special and above "the other girls," I can relate to that. ;;

Why 'Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back' Is Much Better Than We Thought

It's brought up a point about the ending that I haven't thought of before:

The conflict of the film all came from Mewtwo's struggle to find a meaning for his existence. Now, the protagonists find themselves in a microcosmic version of the same position Mewtwo found himself in at the beginning of the film: They don't know how they got to the harbor, and, without any knowledge of Mewtwo, they have no apparent reason for being there. After Brock mentions that Nurse Joy, Officer Jenny and the harbor lady “look even prettier when they're wet”, Ash asks a question and Misty responds.

His intended question is, “What are we doing here [at the harbor]?” and Misty's response is, “Who knows? But we're here, so why don't we stay?” But, thanks to a triple meaning of the word “iru”, their exchange can also be translated as, “Why do we exist?” “Who knows? But we exist, so why not continue [living]?” Thus, as the movie ends, Ash and Misty unknowingly resolve Mewtwo's existential crisis through casual conversation and apparently stumble upon the meaning of life without realizing it.

This would have been very easy to retain in the English version, since “Why are we here?” has the same double meaning, but it looks like the 4Kids guys completely missed the double entendre. I wouldn't have caught it if it hadn't been pointed out in an Amazon.co.jp review, and even then I found it so surprising that the freaking meaning of life was hidden in a Pokémon movie that I had to repeatedly check to make sure I wasn't imagining it. Which I almost wish I was, because that would mean I'd get to put it in a story I wrote and take credit for it.

I feel so sorry for Takeshi Shudo. He wanted to make a work that would be enjoyable for people of all ages, only to have it completely shat on by 4KIDS and later producers of the anime. Look no further than the Genesect movie, and you can see why I'm too disgusted to watch the anime anymore. (Unless it's stuff I've already watched and enjoyed, of course. The Lucario movie is my bby. ;;)

Stupid things to do: Lock yourself out of your own house and forget the key, right after your Dad has left for San Antonio to pick up your Mom and brother at the airport.

As a result, I literally spent the entire night in the front porch of my house. :( No sleep, feet hurt, itchy legs, and no working phone. Auuuuugh. So I walked over to the nearest 24-hour-Whataburger to talk to Dad (whom I couldn't reach until morning) and my boyfriend, and dear god is Jimmy a life-saver. ;; When it got to morning, I stayed at Whataburger because I knew it was going to get hot as hell and I didn't want to get heat stroke. There was a large black guy in glasses who was worried about me and thought I was a runaway. I explained to him the situation, and he was kind enough to buy brunch for me. ;; We talked a bit and I introduced myself. His name is Alberto, and he used to be in the Navy. As a result, he's traveled all around the world, and just recently got back from Panama. :) He wasn't much of a talker and his voice was kinda gruff-sounding, but he was really nice. :) I also met a women who saw my Pikachu T-shirt and thought Pikachu was some sort of bee creature. "My granddaughter loves bees and decorates her room with them. Your shirt made me think of her." Aww. :)

Jimmy was able to pick me up after a few hours, and he had a spare key to my house. I have the greatest boyfriend ever. ;; After that long day, I quickly got some computer stuff out of the way and went straight to bed.

Anyone remember the yaoi anime Bronze? Zar's done a recap of it! If you ever wanted to know what "yaoi hands" or other such anatomic blunders common in yaoi, Bronze's animation is a textbook example. It's glorious. XD While I get no enjoyment out of atrocities like Okane ga nai, yaoi anime like Ai no Kusabi and Boku no Sexual Harassment ("COOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRN!") are so over-the-top and bizarre that they turn around to being hilaribad. Which is fun. :)

Today is the start of what I call DigiFridays! :D Rachel and I have agreed that we'd watch the first three seasons of Digimon, starting tonight! I hope she likes it! Me, I'm putting on my seatbelt for a nostalgia trip~ ♥ We're watching the first season dubbed and the second season subbed, and we don't know for Tamers yet. I didn't watch Tamers back in the day, so this'll be entirely new for me! :o

Last night I finished reading "Madoka Magica: A Different Story." Or as I call it, "Puella Magi Mami Magica."

( Spoilers for the entire series, of course. Look at all the Mami feels, they're falling from the sky! )

I think I ship Mami/Kyouko now. And Mami/Kyouko/Sayaka. And a Madoka/Homura/Mami/Kyouko/Sayaka OT5.

Basically, if you're a fan of Madoka Magica, I highly recommend ADS. It can all be read at mangafox when you've got spare time, nomnomnom. :)

Part of me wonders if it's an in-joke based on what Morrie-chan said ages ago, or if I wanted to see if I can make a legit-looking screencap of Andy about to be mogu-mogu'd. ...And that still doesn't make sense. Or maybe I'm just a total asshole to Andy.

What if Sailor Moon worked by Madoka's rules? (HUGE Madoka spoilers)

Or as I call it, everything you ever wanted to know about being a Magical Girl (but were afraid to ask) The essayist brought up some points I hadn't thought of before. :o

My birthday's tomorrow, but hell has pretty much exploded at my house... long story short, I'm spending several days here at Dave's. I probably won't have a big fancy party, but I don't think I can afford that anyway and I'm not too worried about it. I'd rather have a quiet and peaceful party rather than having bad things stir up between me and Mom again. :(
