Day 6. A song/artist you sing along to at the top of your lungs

In sleep he sang to me, in dreams he came
That voice which calls to me and speaks my name
And do I dream again? For now I find...
The Phaaaaaaaaaantom of the Opera is theeeeeeeeeere!
Inside my miiiiiiiiiiiiiiind~!

By which I mean the title song, but the rest of the musical can apply too~ ♥

Two days until the Pokemon Dream World opens! ;;
shamanicshaymin: Glorious beautiful Shaymin against a flowery backdrop. (Emolga :: Sneaky Bastard)
Puri feels tired. :( I got awful sleep last night simply because I was raging over a stupid paragraph of dialogue I was trying to write. I still couldn't get it right, and I was still cranky by the time I was too tired to keep at it anymore. Just... ghsjdkghkdsjg. It's dialogue. Why is it giving me so much trouble? I can't think, I have the dumb. Ugh.

The family and I watched The Full Monty though. It made me happy~ ♥ *singing* I believe in miracles~! Where're you from? You sexy thaaaaang~ Now Tom Jones is stuck in my head again, only this time he's singing, "You Can Leave Your Hat On." Oh baby. XD

Day 5. A song/artist you turn to when you're really angry

Nine Inch Nails and Tori Amos. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have made it through my high school years and probably even early college. There's a TON of artists I listen to when I'm angry (Jack Off Jill, Orgy, Stabbing Westward, Evanescence, Linkin Park, Emilie Autumn, etc.) and the list of songs would probably go on for a long time. XD I dunno. Equip me with The Downward Spiral and Little Earthquakes and you saved yourself a year or two of a teenage Puri strangling everything in sight.

Tori Amos - The Waitress. There's... a story behind that. I made "friends" with a couple BFFs who I admired and secretly resented at the same time, and like the lyrics suggested, I scared myself thinking how violent and hateful I was and felt guilty for having thoughts like that. (I want to kill this killing wish) One of the BFFs wasn't as monstrous as I thought she was, and my feelings killed what little acquaintance we had left, Othello-style, and the other... actually was quite verbally abusive. (Boys all think she's living kindness (Heh) // Ask a fellow waitress) Listening to this song is looking at the mirror and seeing my 15-17-year-old self again. It's strange. At least unlike my past LJ entries which would make me cringe to high-hell and back, I can hear this song and reflect without wanting to smash myself in the face.

For NIN, you gotta love Somewhat Damaged. Starts off calm and repressed, but gradually teeters over the edge... then RAAAAAAAAAAGE! I like music that I can tear things to shreds to~ ♥ As a teen, I related to I Do Not Want This so hard. Well, except wanting to "fuck everyone in the world." Definitely didn't want that. But you know what I mean. XD

You don't want to piss off Emilie Autumn. I can't think of a better and creepier punishment than in Gothic Lolita (If I am Lolita, than you are a criminal // And you should be killed by an army of little girls) and many songs like Opheliac, Misery Loves Company, Liar and Let The Record Show are built of pure unadulterated wrath. Which suits me perfectly. 8) Oh yeah, she knows where you sleep.

30 Day Music Meme )

Ugh. Today was so awful I don't even want to discuss it. Good thing today's Meme Question is appropriate.

Day 4. A song/artist that never fails to make you cry

Sarah Brightman - Once in a Lifetime. (Not to be mistaken for a Talking Heads cover) Sounds cheerful and relaxing, right? Wrong. Wait 'til you read the lyrics. I rarely listen to this song, simply 'cause it always leaves me "DDD:" when I listen to it. Same with The Queen and the Soldier by Suzanne Vega. And Mary by Oingo Boingo is a story I can relate to all too well. D: The Sun is Often Out by Patrick Wolf, written for a poet friend's suicide, is very pretty, and there's one line that haunts me: Is your work of art so heavy that it will not let you live?

I remember someone on the Internet saying 90% of Sarah McLachlan is sad. This is somewhat true. XD Ben's Song, Vox, Lost, Mercy, Fallen and When She Loved Me come to mind for me. Just... crap. D: And I listened to Elsewhere all the time when I was depressed as a teen, nom.

Nine Inch Nails - Something I Can Never Have. Gray would be the color... if I had a heart. Ouch. I remember the first night I listened to The Downward Spiral from beginning to end. When Hurt finished, I sat there on my bed with my headphones... speechless. I felt like someone punched me in the gut. Then it did it again through the Man in Black. I don't know which version I find better, though I might lean toward Cash. It really depends on the occasion. They make me cry. 'Nuff said.

Finally, The Kick Inside by Kate Bush. Based off the Ballad of Lizzie Wan. In the original, a sister is killed by her brother after he learns she's pregnant with his child. In this version? The sister kills herself to spare her brother the shame, and this song is her suicide note. Considering the dire subject matter, I keep playing this whenever I think of Raggedy Ann & Andy in my novel. They're not incestuous and it got nowhere as bad as it did in Lizzie Wan, but considering it's an inevitable "spoiler" that Raggedy Ann is going to die and Andy deals with a lot of grief (Ahh, grief and death. A HUGE theme in my book) this song keeps popping into my head whenever it can. (This kicking here inside makes me leave you behind // No more under the quilt to keep you warm // Your sister I was born // You must lose me like an arrow shot into the killer storm) It doesn't help that 13-year-old!Bush could easily voice a Fleisher cartoon!Raggedy Ann. My brain is messing with me and I should be shot.

*Luigi sob forever*

30 Day Music Meme )

I feel tempted to start a new game on White, simply because I want to relive the entire experience again with a different team. Bu-But... I like imported a million Pokemon already. And I wouldn't be able to go to Liberty Island anymore. And I don't wanna lose my Lilligant and my DW!Espeon. Just... *baw* GIVE ME A SPARE B/W CARTRIDGE OR SOMETHING. Just not a rom 'cause then I wouldn't be able to import my Pokemon, I don't believe. :(

I'm breeding Larvestas so I can EV train a killer moth. I hatched the Ranger egg and got the Level 70 Volcarona. Now imagine having that thing from scratch. My god, we'll blot out the sun. I'll EV train the Gothita Carol gave me too, even though it's stuck with Frisk instead of Shadow Tag. :( This is why I need Dream World. But I'll be training the ones that don't need the DW abilities or require a bunch of ridiculous breeding. (That's for later. :P XD) Part of me wants to EV train Hoenn-mon like Swampert (I love Swampert. Emerald taught me this is my favorite Hoenn starter, hands down. Imagine that, other water starters are allowed to share Blastoise's throne after all! :o) and Breloom, but arrrrrrgh, there's no perfect experience and bonding for that than when the R/S remakes come out. D: *cries* WHAT TO DO I'M TORN.

Apparently my Darkrai and I are even bigger bros in Unova than we were in Sinnoh and Johto. Funky. :o Maybe it's 'cause I love the way Darkrai's sprite moves in B/W when I send him out in battle. Delicious. 8) Gotta love the animation for Dark Void too! Darkrai is probably my favorite Ubermon to use. I just love the strategy involved: Put mon to sleep with Dark Void. Bad Dreams starts sucking their health up. Use Nightmare to double the effect. Cackle as you smack them with Dark Pulse as your opponent literally faints with fear. Darkrai needs to hang with my Leech Seed team or something. I love slowly sapping my opponent's HP with each turn! XDDD

Wow, I rambled a lot about Pokemon. Back to the Music Meme!

Day 3. A song/artist that never fails to cheer you up

That's easy! Aqua and Toy Box. Two bouncy artists that always make me smile. I remember Aqua from a random CD I heard a couple times in my childhood. Feeling gloomy? All I gotta do is tune in to Happy Boys and Girls and Cartoon Heroes. As for Toy Box, they do stuff that sounds similar that's silly and fun. Stuff like Tarzan & Jane, The Sailor Song and The Wizard of Oz. :3

Also The Lonely Island. I'M ON A BOAT MUTHAFUCKA DON'T YOU EVER FORGET. Four Words: Dick in a Box. Fuck yes.

I adore adore adore adore Life is Like a Boat by Rie Fu. I didn't even know it was an ending song to Bleach at first. It was just seamless and beautiful (plus they're really good at singing English. :o) and whenever I was just feeling grumpy, it reminded me of the friends I've made and the gratitude I feel for them, and just the... growth of this song. (I want you to know who I really am // I never thought I'd feel this way about you // And if you ever need someone to come along // I will follow you and keep you strong) Makes me wibble in a good way. Indeed. ;D

...Shit. I almost forgot Weird Al Yankovic.

Enjoy the cheeriness while you can! Tomorrow, get ready to grab tissues. XD

30 Day Music Meme )
shamanicshaymin: Glorious beautiful Shaymin against a flowery backdrop. (Plusle & Minun :: Happy Dance)
James and I went to see CATS last night. In a nutshell, it was about of cat-people leaping around singing, "WE ARE CAAAAAAAATS WE ARE JELLICLE CAAAAAAAAAAATS" for over thirty minutes and not doing much else. :P There were a few good numbers like Memory, and I'll 'prolly give them another chance later (the only song I heard prior to seeing CATS was Sarah Brightman singing Macavity, and she did it way better. :P) but overall, we just... didn't get it. Probably due that we couldn't really hear what the actors were singing (it's either them or the auditorium has awful sound) or who knows, maybe we just didn't care. The good news is that James borrowed Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot from his boss, so I read him all the poems while he drove me home. We both agreed the poetry was much better. :D At least I can take even more humor from Dad's bitching about CATS and Andrew Lloyd Weber. XD ("I had to see it twice." "Well, as expected in the newspaper today, they had pictures of those stupid cats. Yuck!")

Plus we got a flier for the next show coming up in May: Trans-Siberian Orchestra performing Beethoven's Last Night. Fuck yes. *-*

Dad and I auditioned for The Fully Monty musical at our local theater. I didn't get anything (I had a great audition, I just looked too young for the female parts. XDD;;;) , but he got the role of Tony Giordano and the Minister. EFF YEAH. :D

Day 2. A song/artist that never fails to make you dance

Dance Dance Revolution. O WAIT. Oingo Boingo's good at getting me on my feet too, particularly No One Lives Forever. I seem to be a sucker for Halloween party music. If a skeleton can dance to it, so will I. So stuff like Move Your Dead Bones by Dr. Reanimator and classics like Monster Mash and Purple People Eater wins me over. :D And one other song I like that isn't Halloweenie, but...

Beck - Timebomb. A few times I tuned in to Radio PSI (???) at Starmen.net and chatted with a few people along with Blooopie, it was totally worth it. People requested music from a DJ, and this song was one of them. :o Love at first listen. Just... bah-bah-bah, bah-bah bah-da-da-da-da bah-bah-bah... It's exactly the kind of NES-like electronica I adore. 8)

And electric flying squirrels. What is this tom-foolery I don't even. My god though, all those Emolga icons [livejournal.com profile] youendme made are adorable.

My novel is finally getting a kick-start! At least in terms of plot. I'm not stuck in the same scene anymore! Raggedy Andy and his friends are heading out into the wide world of the museum and it makes me happy~ I'm amused by their reactions.

"Oh shit, we're leaving the nice big safe cheerful preschool room and we're going back to dusty gritty hell and worse. D:" "UM. SUDDENLY I FEEL DISCOURAGED. DD:" "*sigh* I expected this. Might as well face the music and get ready to die." "We can do this, everyone! I know we just met a few days ago, but we worked together and discovered we're stronger than we gave ourselves credit for. If we made it to start our journey, we'll make it against anything that stands in our way. *leads everyone by the hand* Now let's get out there and stop those chimeras! :D"

Guess which one's Andy. XD And now I've got Pollyanna (I Believe In You) stuck in my head. DAMN YOU FUCKING RAG DOLL.

Speaking of lovely music, I'm gonna jump on a bandwagon and take the music meme Carrie, Indie, and Tifa have been circulating. :3 I thought of starting it but stress and family matters got in the way, but I'm definitely free now! Oh boy oh boy oh boy~ ♥

Day 1. A song/artist you're currently hooked on

Alongside Candy Hearts and Paper Flowers and a few scattered songs from that movie, Kate Bush is my primary musical influence for my book. :3

She couldn't have made a worse move~ )

1. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. List (and upload/link) 5 songs you love that begin with that letter.
3. Post them to your journal with these instructions.

Indie gave me S. :3

- Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
- Small Blue Thing by Suzanne Vega
- Shalott by Emilie Autumn
- Spit It Out by IAMX
- Sweet Sacrifice by Evanescence

Man, and I can only list five? Probably for my own sanity. XD

Hello~

shamanicshaymin: Glorious beautiful Shaymin against a flowery backdrop. (N/Touko :: It'll Be Okay!)
Greetings, everyone I added from the recent friending meme at [livejournal.com profile] ontdpokemon! My name is Puri. Like Buzz Lightyear, I come in peace. I just caught up with Black Adventures, which is hysterical as always, though I'm starting to feel sorry for N right now. :o If I'm not distracted by shiny stuff, I'll probably watch more My Little Pony tomorrow. Friendship is magic, after all~

Like Shauntal, I'm a novelist. I'm currently tackling a book and aiming to get published. Which kinda makes me sound pretentious and annoying, but I've got dreams, man. ;; That, and I want to raise/EV train all of my favorite Pokemon so I can organize as many strategies and teams as I want~ ♥ Shipping is fun and delicious as long as nobody loses an eye. Especially BL. Mmm, BL.

Do you like Queen? I hope you do. 'Cause this song's in my head and I think it's very sexy. With a side dish of trippy. 8)

Early Thursday mornings, wipe away the flies
The crossfire fight for action in between your thighs

Every touch is sacred when they leave the room
If I have to switch the lights off
I wanna switch them off with you

This will make you love again...

Puri's emo because she can't find any shinies lately. So I'm taking a break from golden Swablu hunting (I'm getting a real one from Carol anyway~ ♥) and out to hatch an easier egg: Shiny Munna. Dropped Madotsuki and Masada at the Daycare as a result. Boy I knew I made the right decision somewhere. X3 (I was torn between Munna and blue Komatana, so I did a coin flip. Oh well, I can always hunt for Komatana later~)

Betaing question: Is it better to ask someone to read over your work before or after revising first draft?

Gosh this song brings such vivid and pretty images for (and probably because) it being about the apocalypse. So sad. ;;

I'm hesitant to really talk about my NaNoNovel '10 much except with close friends, mainly because I don't want to snuff my creativity and/or enthusiasm for a pivotal scene between two characters in the middle of the book. The song is erm, like a triple entrende.

I wait at the table
And hold hands with weeping strangers
Wait for you
To join the group

The tambourine
Jingle-jangle
The medium roams and rambles
Not taken in
I break the circle

I want this man to go away now

With a kiss
I'd pass the key
And feel your tongue
Teasing and receiving

With your spit
Still on my lip
You hit the water

Him and I in the room
To prove you are with us too

He's using code that only you and I know
This is no trick of his
This is your magic

I'd catch the cues
Watching you
Hoping you'd do something wrong

Everybody thinks you'll never make it
But every time
You escape:

'Rosabelle believe,
Not even eternity
Can hold Houdini!'

"Rosabelle, believe!"

Through the glass
I'd watch you breathe
("Not even eternity--")
Bound and drowned
And paler than you've ever been
("--will hold Houdini!")

With your life
The only thing in my mind--
We pull you from the water!

(Houdini!)

You ("Hou-di-ni...")
And I
And Rosabelle believe

~Houdini~
~Kate Bush~

In other news... my mind is blown. I didn't pay much attention to the Inception theme before, but shit. Oh shit oh shit oh shit.

Also, Piers Anthony is a sexist creep and I'm glad I never read any of his books. Including this one, where a five-year-old voluntarily has sex with a grown man and it's treated as a GOOD thing.

Visual access to underwear - Because underwear is so closely tied to sexuality (even more so than nudity in Xanth), men become automatically "freaked out" when they view panties. This is made a common joke, most prominently in the novel The Color of Her Panties, and is often used by women to gain advantage over men. Panties only carry their effects when worn, but because of their nature, they are forbidden to be shown to children.

WHAT. WHAT.
shamanicshaymin: Glorious beautiful Shaymin against a flowery backdrop. (Pikachu/Meowth :: Kissu)
[Error: unknown template qotd]
Within Temptation - Running Up That Hill (orig. Kate Bush): I like the Placebo version and all, but this. THIS. This defines what this song is about for me. This version just blew me away out of the fucking water.

Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah (orig. Leonard Cohen)
: As great a lyricist Cohen is, the original Hallelujah sounds... kind of hokey. Out of the 5476437687 covers out there, only Buckley tied you to a kitchen chair, broke your throne and cut your hair, and from our lips drew a Hallelujah. Wrenched our hearts while he was at it. You get the Sobbing Luigi, Buckley. God bless you.

Tori Amos - '97 Bonnie & Clyde (orig. Eminem)
: Okay, Tori has a gift for covering music in general, so much that it's unfair to compare her version of say, Smells Like Teen Spirit with Nirvana's 'cause they're both so different from each other (the original Rattlesnake by What's-His-Face is hideous though. Ewww. Thank god Tori covered it and made it into something better. :P) This is the exception. She takes a stupid immature rap song and turns it into a terrifying tale that's made me hide under my bed for weeks. Da-Da wishes you sweet dreams. *shudder*

Johnny Cash - Hurt (orig. Nine Inch Nails)
: Another Sobbing Luigi winner. Hell, ask Trent himself. He doesn't consider it his song anymore. That's how fucking legend Cash is. Having the history and pain to go with it helps too.

Gary Jules - Mad World (orig. Tears For Fears): Tears For Fears was about the bizarre atmosphere. Gary Jules turns it into a poignant lullaby. It worked so well it's gotten so that everyone covers Jules as opposed to TFF. No offense guys (including Lambert, who I mention next), but you can never break me the way Jules can. The second verse? Just ouch. Ouch. ;;

Adam Lambert - Fever (orig. Lady Gaga): Gotta admit, when I looked up Gaga's version on YouTube, I was so disappointed to find it wasn't as lively and upbeat as Lambert's. This was my intro to Lambert, and everytime this song comes up, I find myself grinning from ear to ear and I immediately want to sing and dance. ♥♥♥

Note to self: STOP READING CREEPYPASTAS AND GET BACK TO NANO. You're a day late already. 'Sides, the pastas are making you paranoid.

Speaking of creepy games, I watched most of a Squeenix game called Nanashi no Game. It's got an interesting premise about a cursed video game that kills people if they don't beat it in the time limit. (Basically, THE RING WITH VIDEO GAMES!!11!1) The gameplay looks kind of eh though. :/ Screw the live-action parts, I wanna skip ahead to the TS DS bits with the sprites and glitchy graphics! Which has an earworm of a theme by the way. It's so pretty and I can't stop listening to it. :o

Day 23: Favorite racing game

HI IM DAISY! HI IM DAISY! )

Day 24: The one awesome game idea that still hasn’t been done

Nothing at the top of my head, so how about more of an awesome game idea? More creepy dream exploration games (L.S.D. I'm talking official stuff, not just freeware) and lighthearted RPGs that poke fun of themselves (Mother series) please.

Day 25: The most hilarious game you’ve ever played

Earthbound of course. Also I Wanna Be the Guy! because of the twist it added to the Castlevania scene with Dracula. ;D

Day 26: A game you’ve left sitting at the final boss fight and still haven’t returned to

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, but I don't like it so I don't care, haha~ ♥ So I'll go with Startropics. Talk about a difficulty spike! The final level in the spaceship is haaaaaaaaaard. D:

Day 27: A game that you wish you could play, but suck at

Classic Megaman. I beat several of the bosses in MM2 (or was it MM1?), but ugh, it's so frustrating to play. My fingers were feeling it. D:
