Frozen Feminism?

Why the Feminist Controversy Over Frozen Misses the Point
I wasn't worried about Disney taking enormous liberties with the storyline; that's pretty much expected. I knew that Frozen wasn't going to have much in common with The Snow Queen anyway. But what really grinded my gears with the unfortunate implications of DiSalvo's quote about animating Anna and Elsa.
If this article is true, it puts my fears about the movie to rest. Trying to keep two siblings look related while still having individual characteristics is a HUGE world of difference from "WAAAAH ANIMATING FEMALE CHARACTERS IS TOO HAAAAAAAAAAAAAARD!"
In other news, the family and I just got back from watching Catching Fire. Nomnomnom.

my comment is probably spoilery for those who haven't watched it yet?

I'm convinced that because the whole story was her trying to desperately make a connection and do anything for her sister, you could have had her sacrifice at the beginning of the story and it still would have happened, she'd save her sister out of love regardless of where you put it in the movie.
But that's me. Hilariously on another note, my husband and I made more connection out of seeing a story of a homosexual girl who has to hide who she is (see even: the christian symbols and church where she's terrified of "letting it show") and when it's revealed she's outcast by her whole community because she's different and an "evil" to them, then she comes out of the closet and accepts who she is but won't go back because she knows of the consequences that should await her, but her sister shows tolerance and magically helps everyone see that her differences still make her human and they, too, accept her in the end. xD
