Dear FemslashEX 2014 writer/artist,

Sorry I finished my letter late! I just started the fall semester, so things got a little hectic. But better late then never! I'm so excited for what you're going to write and/or draw for me, and I thank you in advance! :3 I'll get through my likes and dislikes as fast as I can, but fear not. I am easy to please! :D

Likes

• Fluff and angst in moderation
• Hurt/Comfort
• Character-driven pieces
• Nightmare fuel, trippiness, cosmic horror, psychological mindfuck
• Grumpy softies. A lot of my favorite characters fall into this category; they seem mean or distant, but it's clear that they have a soft side. (See: The Cranky villagers in Animal Crossing) This kinda falls into TV Tropes' Jerk With a Heart of Gold category, but also includes characters that are just SRZ BZNZ without necessarily being jerks. See also Knight in Sour Armor.
• Minor character focus. Some of my favorite characters don't always get enough spotlight in canon or fandom, so it's nice seeing the spotlight shine on them a bit. :)
• Unusual/Unlikely friendships
• Aliens and other cosmic beings
• Sentient machines, robots, and evil computers

• Rape and sexual abuse.
• Graphic depiction of drugs and alcohol. Characters having a party and doing silly drunk shenanigans are fine; people shooting needles up their arms, snorting cocaine, or going in a downward spiral due to alcoholism isn't.
• Love triangles in all shapes and sizes and polygons.
• Infidelity
• Third Act Misunderstanding and the Liar Revealed tropes. Regarding the latter, I have a bit of an ostracization squick; seeing a character who isn't a deserving villain being exiled or banished just makes me uncomfortable.
• Mpreg/Pregnancy/Miscarriage/Abortion
• Eating disorders
• Child/Animal abuse. I'm more lenient with this for darker fandoms, but I'm especially squeamish about animal cruelty and I'd rather you didn't include it.
• Incest and pedophilia
• Zombies, vampires, and werewolves
• A/B/O AUs
• Misogyny/slut-shaming/Madonna-Whore complex and Nice Guyism
• Character bashing. Since this is a femslash challenge, I really don't want the male characters to be portrayed as evil monsters any more than I like seeing female characters demonized in slash, and I don't want a ship's problems to be 100% focused on a guy.

• All-hurt-and-no-comfort fic. There's gotta be a balance!

Now, without further ado... the fandoms and the ships!

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magika | Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Homura Akemi/Madoka Kaname

To quote SailorPtah: "The way Homura and Madoka look out for each other with such dedication is one of my favorite things about the pairing. Even when it goes to unhealthy places, it's because the situation they're in is so insane, not because there's anything wrong between the two of them."

So basically, I love fluffy MadoHomu fic as much as everyone else, but don't be afraid to address the more dysfunctional aspects of their relationship either. :) AUs where Homura and Madoka meet without time travel shenanigans would be interesting. Regarding Rebellion, an epic sequel where Madoka and friends save Homura and allow her to redeem herself would be great, but I understand it would take a LOT of energy to write a fic of that scope, so I'd also be good with bittersweet angel/demon fanart. Please no "Homura-stalks-Madoka" jokes or vice versa, or trying to pass off such a situation as cute. No Yandere!Homura either.

Sayaka Miki/Kyouko Sakura

Two warriors fighting for justice, only to be led astray in different ways, end up saving each other for the very ideals they shared in the first place. What would happen if Kyouko actually did save Sayaka and recovered her from her witch form? (While forfeiting her ability to become a magical girl in the process) I imagine since her soul gem was already shattered, it released Sayaka's soul back into her body, but she wouldn't be able to contract and become a magical girl again either. I'd like to see Kyouko trying to help Sayaka adjust again after everything she'd been through, and the two of them trying to be badass normals again.

If that's too out of the norm, seeing Kyouko and Sayaka's relationship in the final timeline after Godoka established the Law of Cycles is good too. So is regular ol' arcade competition at the DDR machines. :D

Mami Tomoe/Kyouko Sakura

I loved the spinoff manga, "A Different Story." I loved the character studies of Mami and Kyouko, and the way it dealt with their relationship with each other, from teacher-student to clashing ideologies to eventual forgiveness. But what really got to me was how Mami agonized over self-perfection. She wants others to see her as capable/calm/selfless/experienced and BE the role, or else when they find out she's not the "cool big sis" they imagined her to be, they would abandon her and sentence her back to loneliness... something I personally relate with all too well. So the scene where she confesses to Sayaka that she's not the flawless heroine she was hoping for, and later, the arc with Kyouko confronting Mami after her break-down? Knowing that Sayaka didn't care and saw her as a friend, warts and all, and Kyouko fighting to help her and sacrificing herself in spite of the rift in their relationship hits a strong chord with me. I found it heartwarming and consider the ending to be bittersweet because of that; Mami realized that she had friends who loved and respected her regardless of the decisions she made, and expressed hope in her farewell letter that the five of them would meet again in another life someday. (Which I totally believe they do at the entire of the series, thanks to Godoka. ;;)

So basically, I'd love post-Different Story fic of Mami and Kyouko reuniting in the afterlife. ;; Welcome-back smut optional, and so's an OT3 of Mami/Kyouko/Sayaka. ;D

Mami Tomoe/Madoka Kaname

I'd love a fic where Mami survives Charlotte and struggles to remain a good mentor to Madoka and Sayaka, and Madoka does her best to keep her sane. Or a fic where Madoka contracts and is so awesome as a magical girl that she ends up protecting Mami after everything that she's done for her. Madoka saving Mami's life, physically and/or mentally = all the wibbles in the world. ;;

Homura Akemi/Hitomi Shizuki

I remember seeing it listed on the PMMM LesYay page at TV Tropes, and I thought, "Waaah?" Then I watched the videos accompanying the ship, and it just... clicked for me. Not only is Homura nicer in the gag route of the PSP game, it made me wonder about what could have been if things worked out in the timeline. (Homura: *comforting Hitomi after she lost the duel* "Really? I think you're strong too, Shizuki-san. Very strong. As a human being." Coming from Homura? That means a lot)

We don't get to see much of Hitomi's character in the show. According to Hitomi's seiyuu, Ryouko Shintani, Hitomi is actually "mentally strong" and Shintani admires her "strength and confidence in herself" and wishes she could be more like her. (Sayaka: "Hitomi should just become a magical girl too, huh." Madoka: "I don't think Hitomi-chan needs a miracle in her life, though.") Compare that with Homura, who looks cool and collected on the surface, but is actually tearing apart from the seams inside.

I like the idea of Hitomi having this hero-worship crush on Homura at first, but then as she gets to know her better, becomes determined to help Homura herself as a Badass Normal, refusing to let her push her away. Plus it's a great opportunity for Homura to maintain a grip of life that isn't involved with the Puella Magi; Hitomi has never contracted, after all.

To take a darker approach, I also wonder about the end of Rebellion, like if Hitomi ends up working for Homura as a servant or something. *cough*

tl;dr: The out-of-the-loop-but-stronger-than-she-looks Muggle meets (and challenges?) the barely-clinging-to-sanity Veteran.

Homura Akemi/Sayaka Miki

This is your chance to use the Enemy Mine trope in all its glory! This is also the Puella Magi ship I give the okay to write/draw dubcon (not noncon, to be on the safe side) for, specifically post-Rebellion. :D Scenes where Sayaka is trying to reach out to Homura, or the two of them having an epic duel would be awesome. 8)


Other Notes: If doing smut, please age up the characters! I don't mind teensex, but please don't let the girls be any younger than 15.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

Trixie/Twilight Sparkle

The "Magic Duel" episode hooked me on those two. How does Trixie react to Twilight becoming an alicorn princess? Does she try to become an alicorn herself? Do she and Twilight end up working together to stop the latest evil?

Applejack/Rarity, Applejack/Twilight Sparkle, Applejack/Rainbow Dash

I love the chemistry AJ has with all three of them, and I like how vastly different the relationships are, too. With Rarity, they went from being at each other's throats to being the most loyal friends in spite of their opposite backgrounds. With Twilight, she's patient and helps her open up to other ponies while helping her stay grounded. Finally, there's Rainbow Dash, her competitive match in every way (I love the way that Dash absolutely refused to give up on her in "The Last Roundup" until she spat it out) If you're drawing fanart, I'm always a sucker for the other pony to be wearing AJ's hat. :D

Fluttershy/Rarity

Fluttershy's ability at sewing came as quite a surprise for everyone in "Suited for Success." I'd love to see some kind of fairy-tale AU where one or the other making a dress that pleases the other (Rarity doesn't even have to play the role of the princess; imagine her as Cinderella working her damnedest to get to the ball!)

Pinkie Pie/Rainbow Dash

This one, I'm up for good ol' fluff and heartrending h/c. Please no references to Cupcakes or Rainbow Factory, or other grimdark fic though. I like horror and darkfic as much as the next person, but I'd like something new and original. :o


Other Notes: Human AUs are fine, and POC interpretations welcome! If you write/draw smut, please make the characters human. Ponysex isn't my cup of tea. :o

Pocket Monsters | Pokemon - All Media Types

Momi/Natane | Cheryl/Gardenia

I love how calm and collected Cheryl is, and I think she'd get along great with Gardenia. :) Anyway, Gardenia has admitted she has a ghost phobia and wonders what will happen when Grass/Ghost Pokemon are discovered. With the advent of Phantump, Trevenant, Pumpkaboo, and Gourgeist, how will she cope? Considering how much experience she has (and what a great partner she is at the Battle Tower!), I'm sure Cheryl could help. :)

Touko/Akira | Hilda/Aurora

Aurora is the Waitress NPC who becomes your Ferris Wheel partner at Nimbasa city if you play as Hilda. :) Maybe Hilda visits her after becoming Champion? What is Aurora up to during Black 2/White 2? Has she chosen to travel the world with Hilda as her partner? For fanart ideas, I'd like to see Aurora in a yellow version of the gown from Disney's "Sleeping Beauty," with Hilda dressed up as Prince Philip or Maleficent. :)

Cattleya/Shikimi | Caitlin/Shauntal

I imagine Shauntal being the first person Caitlin warms up to and feels less irritated by. Maybe as Shauntal reads to her or shares ideas for her latest novel, Caitlin could open up to her about her past (her relationship with Darach, trying to handle her temper and psychic powers, etc)? I can also see Shauntal as being a little shy and Caitlin helping her to stand up for herself. Points if Musharna and dreams are involved!

Touko/Bel | Hilda/Bianca

Hilda finally goes back to visit Cheren and Bianca (and Hilbert, if your headcanon involves both protags growing up together), and dang, has Unova changed! Cue Hilda stealing Bianca's new glasses and other shenanigans. Perhaps Hilda can take Bianca on a trip to Kalos?

Matiere/Serena | Emma/Serena

Years later, Emma and Serena meet again. How has the Looker Bureau grown? Has Mimi evolved? Do she and Serena work together to solve a particular crime in Lumiose? Feel free to bring in Looker and involve all of the family feels. ;; POC!Serena is allowed, even encouraged, because it's so rare to find POC depictions of her. ;;

Sumomo/Suzuna | Candice/Maylene

Usually, I see fics where Candice comforts Maylene after particular rigorous training or stress. How about the other way around, where Candice is having a bad day and Maylene helps restore her spirits?

Yume Nikki | Dream Diary

Madotsuki/Mafurako, Madotsuki/Monoe, Madotsuki/Monoko, Monoe/Monoko, Madotsuki/Poniko

Yume Nikki is a game that is a wide-open sandbox for interpretation, so feel free to look at my likes/dislikes as your guide. I'm MUCH more lenient with darker things for this fandom, considering its bizarre and sometimes disturbing atmosphere. Non/Dubcon is allowed for all pairings. In case you're confused, Mafurako is the name of an invisible girl wearing a hat and scarf who wanders around the Block World, and teleports you when you talk to her.

Shoujo Kakumei Utena | Revolutionary Girl Utena

Himemiya Anthy/Tenjou Utena, Arisugawa Juri/Takatsuki Shiori, Shinohara Wakaba/Tenjou Utena

Any fic taking place after the end of the TV series would be glorious. How would these pairings start their new lives together? Go bonkers with the weirdness and symbolism in the Utena series as well. Regarding Juri/Shiori and Utena/Wakaba, I don't remember if the series ever explained how they first met and became friends. How about some fic exploring that with a cherry on top? Does Shiori have a particular memory of Juri where she especially simultaneously hated/loved her (before Ruka and the brown-haired guy from Juri's flashbacks)? AUs would be all kinds of fun for this fandom, like maybe a Western where Utena's an outlaw who meets the tavern belle Anthy, or a space opera worthy of Sarah Brightman's "I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper." And of course, the fairy-tale deconstruction and bending of tropes (and good ol' dysfunction) we've come to know and love from the series. :D

Original Work

Female Android/Human, Artificial Intelligence/Human, Human/Non-humanoid Alien, Human/Humanoid Alien, Pirate/Princess

As you've probably guessed from my likes and kinks, I'm a big fan of aliens, androids, robots, machines, and other otherworldly people and their relationships with human beings. :D Whether it's the cat-and-mouse chase and mindgames between protagonist and antagonist (ex. a ship similar to GLaDOS/Chell from Portal), people from vastly different yet similar species getting to know each other (ex. Rose/Kanaya from Homestuck), or two species whose meeting each other should have been impossible (ex. one of them belongs to a Lovecraftian species responsible for multiple apocalypses) (ex. Roxy/Calliope, also from Homestuck), anything you come up with will be glorious. Non/Dubcon is allowed if that's the direction your pairing is going. Three/Moresomes are also allowed! I frown upon Discount Lesbians, but if you're taking this challenge, I trust you enough to not follow this trope. ;D

I've provided Pirate/Princess as an option if you're not feeling up to writing aliens/robots/etc. But if you are, also feel free to mix things up a bit, like having an android pirate kidnap a human princess, and so on. :)

When all else fails? Have one of my requested ships share the same scarf. ;D
