Day One: Tell us about your favorite writing project/universe that you've worked with and why.
I'm working on Matryoshka,a novel I broke 50k with last NaNoWriMo. It's very hard for me to come up with a good or original plot, but I really like what I'm doing with this one. It's inspired by an indie freeware game called Eversion, in which a paranoid and solitary woman saves a mysterious man and discovers there are alternate realities to her own world. The deeper she goes, the more horrific reality is distorted, but it is the only way she could stop an eldrich abomination and seperate the dimensions from merging... why yes, this does get Lovecraftian. :3 I'm not sure how I would peg this. Fantasy? Supernatural? Either way, it's dark, and it's got horror elements of the disturbingly abstract kind. Will there be blood? Sure. But it's more about the mindfuck and freaky imagery than anything else. It's a good thing our protagonist is tough! Traumatized, but tough. I never said it'd be easy! :P
Fanficwise, I'm super excited about a sequel to Rise of Darkrai I'm writing called Spiritomb's Awakening (nickednamed PokeNikki). Heavily inspired by Yume Nikki and other unsettling psychological horror such as I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream, it's also being made into a companion fangame on RPGMaker. An Odd Keystone is discovered and it unleashes a Spiritomb with Wonder Guard. When Wondertomb traps Alamos Town in a reign of terror, Tonio is knocked out while trying to find the solution to stopping Spiritomb. Alice begs Darkrai to allow her into Tonio's subconcious to look for him (later Alberto catches up with her). As they enter a phantasmagorific landscape of dreams and horrors, Darkrai has a limited time to protect the sleeping heroes before Spiritomb claims him...
Why yes, they'll go through a lot of hell. Why do you ask? O:D
