Just looked up spoilers for the 3rd Madoka movie 'cause curiosity, dang it. And... I kind of wish I hadn't. 'Cause now I don't feel like having anything to do with the show unless there's a second season. Or at least until I convince myself it's okay to ignore certain canons.

I won't say anything about the spoilers but this: No. No. No no no no no. NO.

Yeah, I think I'll be burying myself in the arms of Pokemon fandom for a while.

Well, if there's one thing I've learned throughout my participation in fandom, it's that certain aspects of canon are surprisingly easy to ignore. You could always just say, "if it's not series canon, and I don't like it, it didn't happen." That's what I do if I encounter things I think are creepy or offensive. Either that or I just interpret around the offending scene, ignoring it without ever actually saying it didn't happen.

I read from part of an interview that Urobuchi starting writing the movie immediately after the TV series, and that aside from dialogue the script was mostly barebones as he wanted to leave decisions on visuals to Shaft. A second season was considered but they didn't have enough material at the time to drag it out for 12 more episodes, hence the movie instead. However, the big plot twist wasn't Urobuchi's idea, originally he was going to end it very differently (which I won't say what the original idea was here because spoilers) but staff members Iwagami and Shinbou wanted to be able to let it continue, so they changed the ending.

He also says that he's sure some people will hate the movie, and as quoted; "The current trend is for timeless, unchanging characters. The characters in the movie however do change, and he's sure that there will be people who will complain about them being "out of character" when in fact they're just growing as human beings."

So yeah, I'm kind of "whaaaat" about the spoilers too, but until I actually see it for myself, I won't hold judgement against it just yet.
