Lately, I've been having disturbing dreams of Madoka surviving attempted assault by young men with professional careers (like teachers), and they often look like the doctor from Mad Father. I say attempted because Homura always steps in just in time to beat the shit out of them, but that's small consolation since Madoka's already shaken from the experience anyway. Thank god the actual show doesn't have rape; the main cast has enough on their plate already.
How DARE Amanda Berry be happy instead of acting like a "real rape survivor" should!
I share Landrith and Miers' disgust. It's amazing how insensitive and stupid people are regarding rape.
I don't tell a lot of people this for her own privacy, but a family member of mine is a survivor of sexual molestation. She's moved on years ago, and no one acknowledges that the culprit was ever part of our family. We never needed to. He never was. Still, knowing that it happened to her and some of my friends is something I can't shake off and ignore, especially with the rampant rape culture in our society. It still baffles me that victims are constantly blamed for someone else's crimes, then dismissed and made a mockery out of. Do we say a kitten is "asking for it" and "should have fought back" if its owner tried to drown it? The fact that it's never a victim's fault should be common knowledge in 2013, but it's not.
Gah, I'm going to look at pictures of hedgehogs to cheer myself up.
