I think the Lucario movie is my 2nd favorite after Mewtwo Strikes Back. ;__________; (Hell, we got some competition here!) It's got about everything I love: lavish costumes, giant poofy dresses, cloaks and hats, ballroom dancing, chandeliers (WE'RE GONNA DROP THE CHANDELIER PHANTOM OF THE OPERA STYLE--oh crap, that never happened) Krazyshipping (at the beginning when he catches Pika on the roof and later when Meowth said, "And I made sure Pikachu was safe." I was all "Awwww! ;____;"), tons of subtext (BOY-ON-POKEMON-TACKLE-TIME-IN-THE-WATER), poor Brock having a girl like him while still having a chance for once, gorgeous fantastic visuals (the time flowers, the entirety of the Tree of Beginning) mild Pikachu angst, scariness and waaaaaaaaaaaah! moments, creepy white blood cells that appeal to my twisted-freak side, understandable angst that doesn't make me want to punch someone in the face, empathy (when I wanted to punch Lucario in the face for being a prick, Ash did. XD), tie-in relations with the Mother series (Notice how the Queen looks like a Pokemon-styled version of Queen Mary?), HOT SPRINGS, Team Rocket's hysterical lines and their "AWWWWWWWW!" inducing reunion with Meowth in the end (because you know he's worried! ;;) real peril, fantasy and castles and knights, robot-sounding Regis which-made-them-cooler-than-they-really-were, NAKED SIR AARON WITH HIS CLOTHES HANGING ON THE BRANCHES--ohwaithe'sinhisregulartunicinvitingLucariotodiphisfeetinthewaterGODDAMMIT, lonely child-like characters even though I'm tempted to call Mew a selfish prick that did damage to herself and the tree just to keep Pikachu--ooh wait. Fic bunny! But yeah, Puri thinks Movie1!Mew is cuter. Sounds better too, like a bell instead of Amy Rose trying to voice Pikachu or something. XDDDD, finally the beautiful romance relationship between Lucario and Sir Aaron. Just... waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! ;_____________________; They'resosweetomgIlovethemOTPOTP
I just about lost it when Lucario cried. As in, literally burst into tears over Sir Aaron's time flower message. You never see a serious "Legendary" Pokemon cry in a movie. Mewtwo and Mew didn't even shed a tear when Ash died in the 1st movie, for chrissakes. So Lucario breaking down and showing these emotions was a real moment for me. I mean, Lucario has to be the most multifaceted star of a PokeMovie I've seen. Yes, he's angry, distrustful, proud and hurt, but hurt because he thought his Master betrayed him. He was devoted to him and expressed a curiosity in everything, and I love what he said to the Bonsly that made off with Brock's food: "Don't take things that aren't yours. *hands him a berry* Eat this instead." He's got honor, dangit. Those little sweet things and him forgiving him after Ash burst to tears in front of him are what make him so human and memorable. And huggable. ;__________________;
Another thing: Lucario dies and is bound to the crystal with Sir Aaron. And stays dead. Almost every other Pokemon movie, someone dies, they come back to life. (See: Ash in Movie 1. Darkrai in Movie 10. Celebi in Movie 4. Hell, I think even Mewtwo in Mewtwo Returns. I think Entei in Movie 3 was a fabrication of Molly's wishes by the Unown and thus disappeared forever, being one of the few "true" deaths in Pokemon) But nope. No Pokemon Tears for Lucario. Plus it pile-drives the point home--He's dead. He's not coming back. Ever. Which makes it all the more gut-wrenching at Lucario's sacrifice when he pushed Ash out of the way to finish transmitting the aura. Where else would you want Lucario than by Sir Aaron's side? It's like the end of Gladiator: Maximus has overthrown the emperor, so what's left for him? All he wants to do is see his wife and son again. So let him. It's the best ending he strived for.
Besides, if you stick around in the end credits, you see Aaron and Lucario exploring their own version of paradise, and Lucario shares with him a bar of chocolate~ ♥
Death isn't all bad. To quote Ralph Wiggum: "You could go to Heaven! :D"
Dear god, Sir Aaron is so hot and sexy. *_________________________________* But anyway, mp3 post for all!
The Cardigans - Paralyzed
This is where your sanity gives in and love begins
Never lose your grip
Don't trip, don't fall
You'll lose it all
The sweetest way to die
Dude, this is like... awesome. I'm not so much paralyzed as I'm hypnotized by it. :P Yep! The sweetest way to die...
Meat Loaf feat. Marion Raven - It's All Coming Back To Me Now
But when you touch me like this
And you hold me like that
I just have to admit
That it's all coming back to me
When I touch you like this
And I hold you like that
It's so hard to believe but
It's all coming back to me
(It's all coming back, it's all coming back to me now)
Before you all kill me, I'll make one thing clear: I HATE Celine Dion. XDDDDDDD! But the way Meat Loaf and Marion Raven share a duet together make this cover so much more powerful and meaningful than the original could ever fathom. I'd know, 'cause every time I listen to this version of the song, I wibble and squeal and my geeky romantic side cries tears of joy.Maybe I can sneak Sir Aaron/Lucario in there somewhere, the entire song in Lucario's POV! *SHOT'D!*
John Barrowman - You're So Vain
You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain
I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? Don't you?
Speaking of covers better than the original versions: Carly Simon just didn't do it for me. Perhaps because I was spoiled by John Barrowman, who made the song so FUN. He could sound angry and amused at the same time, the violins and his voice hold so much life, and when the chorus comes, I always wanna sing along, wave my finger at someone, smile and sing in jest, "You're so vain, I betcha think this song is about you~"
Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Mephistopheles
ALL OF YOUR LIFE NOW
YOU HAVE DENIED
THERE'D BE A TIME
WHEN YOU'D EVER DIE
STILL IT'S BEEN RUMORED THIS THING MUST BE
WHY IS IT THEN THAT YOU ACT SURPRISED
WHEN I APPEAR NOW TO BE YOUR GUIDE?
WHY DO YOU HESITATE TO FOLLOW ME?
Some Sonic fans on my f-list may know of Mephiles the Dark, a being inspired by this guy. The song itself is about the Devil tempting Beethoven, and it's got all the dread and horror to come from classical music. Best of all? Mephistopheles sings like Jack Skellington, which makes this chilling work more than worth listening.
Something For Kate - Monsters
I was hanging upside down from the overpass
Waiting to discover something about the world
I couldn't get with the program and I couldn't listen to them
It was like trying to think in reverse
And I don't want to slide into apathy
And I don't want to die in captivity
But these monsters follow me around
Hunting me down, trying to wipe me out
Let's get back to Pokemon, shall we? This song grew on me like a pleasant little flower, and when I think about it, the lyrics make me think of our old friend Mewtwo, especially during the events of Mewtwo Returns! Poor boy. It sucks when you're trying to recover from being a bad guy.
The Who - Behind Blue Eyes
No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes
No one knows what it's like
To be hated
To be fated
To telling only lies
But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free
I never heard a Who song in my life, but I think this is just amazing and I've absolutely fallen in love. *_____________________________________* (Since then, Puri's been avoiding the Limp Bizkit version, which she heard totally mangled the song. Other than she hates Limp Bizkit, she knows she'll have to listen to it to get the pain over with. *whimper*) So! This is Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2!Grovyle's theme, though it might work with Duster from Mother 3 too. Great for character plot bunnies. Go rogues! ;D
Poe - If You Were Here
If you were here
I know that you would truly be amazed
At what's become of what you made
If you were here
You would know how I treasured every day
How every single word you spoke
Echo's in me like a memory of hope
When you were here
You could not feel the value that I placed
On every look that crossed your face
When you were here, I did not know just how I had embraced
All that you hid behind your face could not hide from me 'cause it hid in me too
Puri's wibble-and-cry song, and it's my Rendshipping theme~ ♥ (Aka PM2's Grovyle/Shiny Celebi) Just... baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw! ;____________________; Get ready for the tissues. Excuse the big space at the end... it must be a secret track or something. 'Cause this is what I would also tack at the end:
Within Temptation feat. Amy Lee - Good Night
Goodnight, sleep tight
No more tears
In the morning I'll be here
And when we say goodnight,
Dry your eyes
Because we said goodnight,
And not goodbye
We said goodnight
And not goodbye
Grovyle and Celebi's last song.
With that, I say good night... and not goodbye.
