While I plan to watch the new Avatar and judge it for myself (my partner told me there WERE some good things about it so I wanna at least see those), I've read the articles basically bragging about how they scrubbed the characters clean of all those pesky problematic things called flaws. This is what purity culture and modern fandom have done. D:
(Of course, on the other end of the spectrum we have cases like Velma where the characters are pure garbage and we're supposed to love them for it. And they get rid of the doggie because a talking dog is "not adult". Even if Scooby dodged a bullet.)
This shit makes me glad shows like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia exist, where everyone's a piece of shit and the viewer can either deal with it or watch something else. XD
