This game came out in late 2015 and I'm still obsessed with it. Figures. And now that it's coming out on PS4 and Vita, I'm jumping right down to play it through them because I'm weak. It's just that powerful, poignant, funny, dark, heartbreaking, and empowering of a game. And since one of its biggest influences was the Mother series, it's catering to my tastes right there. :P
As Undertale is a game heavily reliant on speculation and interpretation (especially the human characters), you don’t have to take my headcanons/views of the characters at face value. I just thought I’d illustrate them to show you how I’d like to see them portrayed. :3
Important: Please use they/them pronouns for Frisk, Chara, Monster Kid, and Napstablook! I'd also humongously appreciate it if you don't refer to Frisk, Asriel, and Chara as siblings in or out of the narrative, especially Chara & Asriel. Thanks!
I'm okay with the self-harm headcanon for Chara. However, if you go that route, I must ask that you A. Write Chara as having quit or learning to quit. B. Not romanticize self-harm in any shape or form. C. DO NOT depict the actual act of self-harm (ex. a graphic scene of Chara cutting or burning themself)
Any combo of Frisk & Chara & Asriel: I can go on and on how much the Striped Time-Travel Trio dynamics mean to me, whether it be friendship or an OT3. Frisk and Chara found in each other the first human they can trust, and helped each other discover the good they are capable of and are so much more than what the humans who hurt/abused/neglected them deemed they should be. Chara and Asriel’s devotion to each other is sweet, which later got twisted to codependency due to forces outside their control—their determination to look at themselves critically and seek to change for the better is what would help their friendship heal and become stronger than ever post-True Pacifist. As for Frisk and Asriel, hoo boy. Flowey and Frisk feel like complete opposites, but his speech in the Genocide route shows that the two of them aren’t that much different; they were both innocent kind-hearted kids who got beaten down by tragedy, then after being given Reset Powers, their desperation for love (or the ability to feel it again) and control over their lives again led them to become cruel and apathetic, even killing people out of curiosity. I think after the two of them were lonely for so long, Frisk’s understanding of Asriel’s situation was part of why they were able to reach out and save him while he was Hyperdeath.
What I’m saying is the three of them complement each other in so many ways, and I love drawing comparisons and contrasts between everyone in the striped trio. All three of them are messed up in some way which actually draws them closer together (Asriel with everything involving Chara's death and Flowey, Chara despising humanity from a young age, Frisk falling down Mt. Ebott for an unknown reason that's often implied to be suicide), and watching them heal and grow and learn to communicate and share their feelings and take care of each other in a post-True Pacifist scenario is my kryptonite. ;;
Mettaton x Papyrus x Sans: I blame fandom and the two endings where the skelebros serve as agents for King Mettaton. :P I love the idea of Mettaton falling for both skeletons and loving them in different ways; he and Papyrus would build each other up and admire each other, while Sans provides witty banter and keeps him grounded. I love the idea of a post-True Pacifist scenario where Mettaton makes it big on the surface and starts becoming more curious about the skelebros when Sans takes Papyrus to all his concerts. I can see Sans being protective at first (not overprotective “THE BONE ZONE IS CLOSED” levels, just cautious due to said MTT endings) when Papyrus starts dating MTT, but after a while realizes he isn’t that bad, and might just end up falling for the sexy robot in spite of himself… Just flood me with sexy rectangles and bishounen, spaghetti, puzzles, hot dogs (or cats), Sans trying to rip off MTT with his wares, and terrible TERRIBLE puns, and I’m golden. 8)
Papyrus & Asriel: Flowey and Papyrus's friendship is fascinating to me. Not only does Papyrus create the Flowey Fan Club (in which he's the only member), Flowey admits Papyrus took him the longest to get bored of. But I rarely see fics where Papyrus and Asriel interact post-True Pacifist, which is a shame because those two are a goldmine of potential due to their "friendship" while Asriel was still Flowey. Maybe Papyrus feels Flowey was the one person who listens to him and takes him seriously (before he got to befriend Frisk and Undyne)? I always thought it would be sweet if Asriel confessed everything he had done to him as Flowey and Papyrus forgave him, or if Papyrus was one of the biggest driving factors to Flowey having a soul again. I can also see him being a cheerleader for Asriel as he adjusts to his original body, as well as helping him deal with the weird moodswings that come from being able to feel love and compassion again. :o
That said, I am FULLY aware of the age difference between them, so if you’re taking the shippy route, all I ask is A. Only pair them up when Asriel is older. Asriel having an innocent crush is fine, but Papyrus shouldn’t reciprocate until he’s grown up. B. I don't want anything too "dark" in their relationship. Acknowledgment of Flowey's deeds is fine as long as it's not too severe (canon-typical manipulation and murders are fine, but nothing from my dislikes), but please don't have post-True Pacifist!Flowsriel be cruel or abusive (and I mean Evil Sadistic Asshole levels, not "I'm a person and I can be mean and fuck up sometimes" levels). I want to see him heal and grow as a person, not be a reenactment of Flowey at his worst. Besides, I can't stand Papyrus being tortured. D: C. Feel free to get around the age gap by making Asriel come back as an adult when he regains his soul. I bet that’d be quite a surprise for the main cast, seeing another Boss Monster aside from Toriel and Asgore. :o
Smut option regarding the Asriel ships: When Asriel gets his body back, he’s never able to be good at fire magic. But he does retain his plant powers from his time as Flowey, meaning he can still summon vines...
Chara x Sans: The age difference rules apply here as well, though considering everything else about those two, age might be the least of your problems. <.<;;; Nothing defines “kismesis” quite like this ship. Maybe in Genocide route, Sans starts to get wind of another person besides Frisk, that a different human may show up at the gate looking exactly like the other. How will he know if it's Frisk or if it's that... other kid? Could that kid be swayed from killing or do they only stop due to Frisk regaining control? Could Frisk actually be cruel or is it Chara's influence? Could Chara themself be swayed from their plans of revenge? Cue Chara jumping on the chance to play mindgames with Sans. What if, due to Sans' medium awareness and how difficult battling him is, he is the reason Chara keeps resetting because they can't predict him, making them "interested" enough to keep coming back? Does their obsession with each other twist back into a nasty addiction, like Batman and the Joker? Nothing cute and fluffy here (not in Genocide Route anyway; it’d be interesting if they end up getting along or become frenemies in post-True Pacifist, considering how much they surprisingly have in common); I'm all about the dysfunctional antagonism between those two.
Asgore x Gaster: Yet another pairing fandom has completely won me over. I love the idea of Gaster being close to Asgore, and offering him comfort and solace post-Asriel & Chara’s deaths and Toriel’s banishment. I imagine him being extremely motivated to relieve Asgore of the guilt and burden that comes from collecting human souls and working himself past his limits to find a more ethical way to break past the barrier… only to fall into the Core and be wiped out of existence, oops. <.<;;; Does Asgore secretly harbor feelings for the Head Scientist that he is torn about confessing in case his ex-wife comes back and fix things between them? Does Gaster try to contact Asgore across timelines, via the flowers in his garden or his dreams? In a post-True Pacifist scenario, does Gaster come back (whether through his own devices or being saved) and reunite with him? Does Asgore still not remember and Gaster tries to jog his memories? Hell, is this the period where the two of them fall in love? The character bashing rule applies here: please don’t demonize Toriel or have her want to get back with Asgore! If Asgore and Gaster get together, I want her to be happy and move on.
Toriel x Muffet: Heeeeeelp! I’ve fallen into Goat Mom/Spider Queen hell, and I can’t get up! I think those two would get along great: they both have a great love for baking, have tight moral codes, are fiercely protective of those they love (Toriel with her children, Muffet with her spiders) and it’s probably no surprise Toriel has donated to the Spider Sales in the Ruins. Do the two of them keep in touch with telegrams, considering how far apart they live in the Underground from each other? Do they exchange recipes and mail baked goods for each other? Does Toriel get clothes and blankets out of spider silk? Hell, do they leave each other tips? Do they ever get the chance to go on tea dates? Would Muffet ever learn Toriel was killed in a neutral or genocide route? Maybe they haven’t met yet; do Toriel and Muffet meet each other for the first time post-True Pacifist? Similar to my earlier ship request, please don’t bash Asgore or make him the creepy mopey ex-husband. It takes away time from the goat and spider bonding. ;D
Burgerpants x Mettaton: I find this ship humorous and fun. :) I think while Mettaton teases him and can get vicious at times (see: making an entire CD full of songs about how much Burgerpants sucks at his job), he does genuinely care about him in his own way and stands up for his employee if anyone is being nasty or abusive to him (like in this fanmade audio continuation of this comic here). What would it be like for Burgerpants in the King Mettaton timelines? Would he be trapped as his permanent servant? How would Burgerpants react if Mettaton was killed on one of the Neutral Routes? Would he be in denial? Hell, what if in some twist of fate, Burgerpants has to comfort his boss when he’s having a bad day? Feel free to play with the Boss/Employee power dynamics and humiliation aspects of this ship (especially the canon detail from the patch update about Mettaton dressing Burgerpants up in various outfits for his own amusement) (“NEVER let hot people think you care. That's how they GET you.” Implying Burgerpants still thinks his boss is attractive. :P), as long as it doesn’t get TOO dark. :)
Burgerpants x Nice Cream Vendor: I shipped it before the patch update came out, and well, the patch update made this ship even cuter. :) I love the idea of the Nice Cream Guy trying to flirt through his ice cream wrapper messages, and Burgerpants not understanding the “jokes” yet, but tells him they’re good anyway for the free nice cream… what if one day, he figures out what Nice Cream Guy is trying to tell him? Or does Nice Cream Guy gather the courage and straight up ask him? Fluff would be adorable as fuck, but if you want to go the angsty route, how about something in the Genocide route? What if Nice Cream Man risked going traveling through Hotland to look for Burgerpants in hopes of taking him with him back to Alphys’ shelter? We know Burgerpants refused to leave work in case Mettaton comes back and yells at him later. What if Nice Cream Man was equally as stubborn and stayed with Burgerpants? Considering what a badass Burgerpants was during Genocide route, I can see him hiding Nice Cream Man from Frisk/Chara/The Player and taking advantage of his Shopkeeper Immunity status to protect him. Maybe the two of them share what their hopes and dreams were before everyone started getting murdered, and find solace in each other in the wake of the apocalypse?
Chara + Frisk + Asriel + Monster Kid: I see a lot of pictures of Frisk, Chara, Asriel, and Monster Kid hanging out together, and I think it's so adorable! I love the thought of those four being friends, and they epitomize what I'd love most about a post-True Pacifist scenario. MK was probably the first monster Frisk befriended who was close to their own age, and the thought of Chara and Asriel getting second chances and making friends with them too (Chara not having friends before they fallen down the mountain, and the implication that Chara was Asriel's first {and for a long time, only} friend) gives me warm fuzzies. How does Monster Kid feel about the trio's previous ability to Save/Load/Reset, if they're told? If not, do they figure out? How does Monster Kid—implied to have had a happy family life along with mysterious ties to a sister and possibly "Goner Kid" (one of Gaster's followers)—deal with the baggage Frisk, Chara, and Asriel had endured? How do the kids all stick together and feel inclusive without anyone feeling like a third-wheel? How do they learn to resolve such issues?
Asgore + Undyne: Hearing Undyne talk about Asgore during your "date" with her killed me. ;; I got the impression Undyne saw him like a father as well as someone she heavily admired, and Asgore saw her as not only his student but the daughter he never had. Something chronicling Asgore training her (from her vow to defeat him in battle to her eventual placement as head of the Royal Guard) would be awesome and amazing. *-* I wonder if Undyne was concerned or worried about Asgore's depression, and that's why she's so determined to catch the human--on top of making him proud and serving as hero to all monsters, she could spare him the grief from having to spill any more blood on his hands. Post-True Pacifist interactions, of course, are always a must. :D
Alphys + Mettaton: Ahh, the otaku scientist and the robot she “created.” I love their friendship and all its messiness, and I'd love to see it explored more in fandom. I like to think they made up and apologized to each other in True Pacifist, but I want to see the conversation where that happens. Surely Mettaton would learn the truth of the Amalgamates after Shyren joins him as part of his band? Does the guilt of her disappearance (possible suicide?) eat away at King Mettaton in his endings? How often does Queen Alphys think back on her fallen friend in her ending? What do they talk about while Alphys works on his Neo form in the Genocide routes?

OneShot is a gem of a game, and the Solstice update makes it a new classic in my eyes. It’s a charming game with a lot of heart, beautiful music, great characters, and a sense of warmth and hope despite the melancholy and (literal) darkness. The way it uses the fourth wall and your computer to further its narrative is innovative without being gimmicky or smug, and explores player agency without being damning or preachy. Also, Niko is the biggest cinnamon roll and one of my favorite main protagonists in gaming yet.
Feel free to use whichever pronouns for Niko you please! Word of God said Niko’s gender is entirely up to the player; I’ll just be referring to Niko in the letter as they/them for convenience’s sake.
This will be a general catch-all for the relationships I’ve requested, which can basically be summed up as, “I want Niko to be friends with everyone. ;;” I would love to see all the scenes Niko spends with each of the characters expanded: give me Silver being like a grumpy protective big sister to Niko and the two of them playing chess together! Give me Calamus and Alula taking Niko to their house and backyard and the three of them playing together and getting to be kids again! Does Niko stay with them if you choose to put the sun back in one of the original endings? Give Lamplighter longer elevator conversations or discuss the glass in his house! Make me wibble again with Ling giving Niko pancakes and console them as they talk about missing their mother! Remind me of Rue’s mysteriousness and her conversation with Niko on the Observation Deck! Show me how well Niko, Proto, Cedric, and Rue work together! Explore the bond between Niko and the Player! Was the Player awkward and nervous, the way I was while playing? Did they find strength and encouragement through Niko the way Niko found the same through them? You can base the Player off your own experiences from playing OneShot, or make up someone different from yourself in their place—it’s up to you! Finally, we get to Niko and the Entity. I won’t lie; when they finally got to talk to each other face-to-face in Solstice, I was weeping buckets. ("I really am a flawed machine, aren't I?") I find the fact that the Entity wanted to protect and save Niko all this time rather touching (then the revelation that Niko “tamed” them in Solstice? aaaaaaaa ;;) What would it be like if the Entity and Niko met in another universe? Would they get to be friends? Would they have a Homura and Madoka-esque relationship (aka the Entity wanting to protect Niko above all else, including its own happiness)? How much would the Entity sacrifice to save them?

Yep, one of my oldest fandoms, still going strong after twenty years! Pokemon Sun & Moon is so bright and hopeful, like the rays of sunshine over the Alola region. :) While I still haven’t gotten around to my copy of Ultra Moon yet, don’t worry about concealing spoilers. Feel free to go all out. :D
Morty x Eusine x Falkner: While Eusine was on his search for Suicune (which I headcanon started when he turned ten, making him 20 during Crystal/HG/SS), I can see Morty starting to see Falkner a lot and falling for him. He tells him about Eusine, eventually introduces Eusine to Falkner, and everyone agrees an OT3 can work out. That said, I also see Eusine and Falkner not liking each other too much at first (Eusine finding Falkner way too serious and rigid, Falkner not trusting Eusine to not dump Morty for some pretty purple-maned diamond dog) and competing for Morty’s affections, in and out of bed. Nothing too serious or angst-worthy—hell, the two of them could grow to see they aren’t as bad as they thought the other was, though that drive to see Who Could Please Morty Better would always be there. Hell, Morty might be amused or turned on by this competition too. <.<
Morty x Eusine: Speaking of those two, how did they meet? How did they become friends? Was it their mutual love of legendary Pokemon and folklore? Due to their ties to their respective Pokemon (Morty to Ho-Oh, Eusine to Suicune), I think they understand each other in regards to trying to reach something that is supposedly unobtainable. Maybe it isn’t so much the Pokemon as it is something else connected to their past? (Eusine associating Suicune with memories of his grandfather, Morty and the expectations placed on him after the ancient events of the Burned Tower) Both their miniarcs in HG/SS seemed to involve letting go of their respective Legendary and finding a new dream (ex. Eusine congratulating the player after they catch or defeat Suicune, and Morty’s dialogue when you get his number at Bellchime Trail: "The legendary Pokemon did not choose me... But that does not mean that I have lost out on my future. I will continue my training until I discover a new future for me.”) Do they decide to look for that new future together? Or, Eugene Fitzherbert-style, discover that each other IS part of their new dream. Hell, I’m just going to quote from Tangled because it sums up how I see Morty & Eusine’s relationship:
“I've been looking out of a window for eighteen years, dreaming about what I might feel like when those lights rise in the sky. What if it's not everything I dreamed it would be?”
“It will be.”
“And what if it is? What do I do then?”
“Well, that’s the good part I guess. You get to go find a new dream.”
Lillie x Moon: Lillie is amazing, aaaaaaa. ;; I loved her character growth, and go figure, I ship her and the Female Protagonist (aka Moon. Hau x Gladion: One boy is a cold loner on the run. The other is a future kahuna Shounen Spirit. TOGETHER THEY FIGHT CRIME. In all seriousness, I really love how well Gladion and Hau's personalities complement each other. Hau helps Gladion loosen up and have fun, Gladion urges Hau to take himself more seriously and work hard. They're yin-and-yang in all the right ways, and nourish each other's strengths. :)
Hau x Sun: A boy moves all the way from Kanto into a whole new region with a whole new culture, and there he meets one of his new best friends—and not only is he his rival, something starts to blossom between them as they train and work hard to make their dreams come true. ;; I find this ship to be sweet and I’d love to see something post-game involving them.

The Batter & Zacharie: Those two intrigue me. Zacharie clearly knows more than he lets on, and the Batter knows it. I can see Zacharie trolling/matching wits with the Batter, and Batter being irritated yet intrigued. (That, and riding the roller coaster at Zacharie’s theme park is one of the few times Batter shows emotion) What does Zacharie think of the whole Purification business, especially since he’s genuinely sad by Valerie (or at least wearing a cat mask to cheer the Judge up) and Sugar’s deaths? Why doesn’t Zacharie try to stop the Batter? Does he know it’s impossible to go up against the Puppeteer? Smut Option: feel free to use Batter’s “bad” form. :D
The Judge + Zacharie (+ Valerie): How did the Judge and Valerie become friends with Zacharie? Were they kittens back then? I want to know if Zacharie is still around in the Judge ending of the game, and if he could provide some bittersweet comfort as two survivors in an empty world together. Do they ever deal with the weird aliens from the secret ending?
Optional headcanon: I like imagining the Judge as a Sphynx cat, hairless and wrinkly with dark markings along his spine that make him look skeletal and creepy. :D Because Sphynx cats don't have fur, it's required to bathe them once or twice a week to wash the oil off their skin. I can't believe this series is at its 20th anniversary. ;; Let's see, we got complex characters, gorgeous animation(when it's not in Dorito Mode, haha. XD), badass music, PSYCHOLOGICAL SYMBOLISM GALORE, a fuck-you to gender roles and the idea of girls-loving-girls as "childish," standing up for yourself and your beliefs even when the entire world is against who you are, shredding toxic masculinity to itty bitty little pieces, deconstructing the most harmful aspects of fairy-tales (or at least the harmful aspects the patriarchy added, since a lot of fairy-tales actually have their roots as “old wives tales” shared among women. :o), and the defiance of destiny and established norms to build your own identity and your own roads. The TV series and movie are my preferred canons (I have not yet played the Sega Saturn game. *sob*), but I don't mind having bits and pieces of manga lore sprinkled here and there. Anthy x Utena & Wakaba (all requested combos): Anthy and Wakaba are so important to Utena’s life in different but equally significant ways, and I’d love to see that explored. Because jealousy is a running theme throughout the series in all its incarnations (namely how destructive it can be and how it can be used as a weapon to turn girls against each other) I think it’d be amazing if post-series Anthy and Wakaba reflected on their own jealousy issues as a way for us to see how far they’ve grown now that they’re free from Ohtori’s clutches. :o I believe if Anthy and Wakaba gave each other a chance, they’d see they have more in common than they think: they’ve both been used by Saionji (physical/verbal abuse for Anthy, abandonment for Wakaba) and they held onto fairy tale ideals only to have them blow up in their faces because of who they are (Anthy unable to save or be with Dios ‘cause LOL SHE’S A WITCH, Wakaba being too “normal” or insignificant for any prince to bother to notice her) Yet both of them remind Utena who she truly is and what she is fighting for, helping her regain her agency—and in turn—revolutionize the world. And I want to mention how much the Wakaba jeep in the movie means to me and how much it makes me wibble. ‘Cause omg. ;;
Speaking of Utena x Anthy, I'm just as interested in the darker parts of their relationship and how they handle it post-series (the conversation they have after Utena saves Anthy from an attempted suicide is the first time they have actually confronted the elephant in the room in regards to their relationship) as I am with fluffier and happier moments between the two. The Canterella scene is easily one of my favorite scenes in the show, and I'm still fascinated by the possible reasons why Anthy stabbed Utena at the penultimate episode. A cynical centuries-old world-weary witch who in spite of herself, starts to fall in love with the girl who claims to be her knight... if that doesn't lead to a wibbly romance, I don't know what does.
Touga x Saionji (+ Nanami): I love the on-again-off-again friendship between Touga and Saionji, and the way it shifts between being manipulative as fuck or possessing the potential for something genuine. The new 20th Anniversary chapter really doesn’t help. <.< Saionji is one of two of the perfect people for calling out Touga on his shit, and the other? None other than post-series Nanami. I’d love to see more closure for her arc by letting her get the chance to call Touga out, which eventually leads us to the scenario of Touga and Saionji working things out and Nanami looking after them like we see in the epilogue.
Nanami x Wakaba: Someone brought it up in a Discord chat, and now I’m curious. Poor Wakaba has been through a lot, namely Saionji (and based off his elevator confession, Tatsuya wouldn’t have been much better. :( ) and then there’s Nanami, whom after her final arc, refuses to take any more of Ohtori’s shit. Remember: this is the girl who punched Saionji over an egg. Both girls have been manipulated and betrayed and reacted to it in different ways. Wakaba doesn’t want to be another face in the crowd, and Nanami wants to be more than “another fly in the swarm.” Come post-series, or close to it. Ordinary Girl meets ex-Queen Bee. Together, they develop a bizarre friendship that *might* become romantic. :o
Juri x Shiori: Those two hurt me in all the right ways. *sobs* The Black Rose confrontation scene is chillingly amazing and waaaaaah. How did those two meet? What were some of the things Shiori simultaneously loved/hated Juri for while they were kids? What happened to Juri and Shiori between Ruka’s death and the epilogue? Speaking of the epilogue, show me their journey of healing and how Shiori became part of the fencing team. Is there any hope of redemption for Shiori post-movie?
Chuchu + Akio and Anthy: I’m intrigued by the purple monkey’s ties to the Ohtori siblings. It’s clear Chu-Chu is extremely protective of Anthy, yet he possesses a lot of Akio’s characteristics (super-indulgence) and even wears his tie. Notably, Chu-Chu was originally going to be left behind with Akio (it was either Ikuhara or Enokido’s idea, I don’t remember who), but the rest of BePapas protested, and thus the monkey was saved. He even ditches his tie while joining Anthy to look for Utena. :o Does his loyalty for Anthy enable to him to overcome his vices? Is he a psychological compilation of Anthy’s and Akio’s issues, and the Anthy side won out in the end (compared to Dios “losing” to his Akio side)?

Things I love: Magical girls. Cosmic horrors. Put them both together and you get this show. :D(Of course, Madoka's more of a tragedy than horror story, but still!) And I love how despite all the darkness, Madoka herself gives the middle finger to nihilism and emphasizes the message of hope and agency as earlier magical girl shows had done before her. Feel free to write series fic and chuck Rebellion canon out the window, or post-Rebellion fix-it fic that restores the goodwill of the original series ending. I’m familiar with A Different Story, the PSP game, and bits and pieces of Battle Pentagram, but I’m going to be lost regarding any of the other spinoffs (Oriko, Wraith arc, etc.) so please keep that in mind. :o
Homura x Madoka: To quote SailorPtah: "The way Homura and Madoka look out for each other with such dedication is one of my favorite things about the pairing. Even when it goes to unhealthy places, it's because the situation they're in is so insane, not because there's anything wrong between the two of them."

Mami x Madoka: I'd love a fic where Mami survives Charlotte and struggles to remain a good mentor to Madoka and Sayaka, and Madoka does her best to keep her sane. Or a fic where Madoka contracts and is so awesome as a magical girl that she ends up protecting Mami after everything that she's done for her. Madoka saving Mami's life, physically and/or mentally = all the wibbles in the world. ;;
Kyouko x Mami: I loved the spinoff manga, A Different Story. (Or as I call it, Puella Magi Mami Magica) I loved the character studies of Mami and Kyouko, and the way it dealt with their relationship with each other, from teacher-student to clashing ideologies to eventual forgiveness. But what really got to me was how Mami agonized over self-perfection. She wants others to see her as capable/calm/selfless/experienced and BE the role, or else when they find out she's not the "cool big sis" they imagined her to be, they would abandon her and sentence her back to loneliness... something I personally relate with all too well. So the scene where she confesses to Sayaka that she's not the flawless heroine she was hoping for, and later, the arc with Kyouko confronting Mami after her break-down? Knowing that Sayaka didn't care and saw her as a friend, warts and all, and Kyouko fighting to help her and sacrificing herself in spite of the rift in their relationship hits a strong chord with me. I found it heartwarming and consider the ending to be bittersweet because of that; Mami realized that she had friends who loved and respected her regardless of the decisions she made, and expressed hope in her farewell letter that the five of them would meet again in another life someday. (Which I totally believe they do at the entire of the series, thanks to Godoka. ;;)
So basically, I'd love post-Different Story fic of Mami and Kyouko reuniting in the afterlife. ;; While it’s not among the tagged ships, feel perfectly free to write or draw me a Kyouko/Mami/Sayaka OT3. Hanokage ships it as much as I do. :o
Homura x Sayaka: With Homura and Sayaka, this is where you can exploit the Enemy Mine trope for all its worth! :3 If there’s one thing that unites those two, it’s their love for Madoka and their desire for her well-being. One of the things I liked about Rebellion was how much Sayaka matured and how… aware she seemed to be of Homura’s situation, indirectly telling her she’s been through something similar and can help her if she’d let her. Then there’s the fact Sayaka seems suspicious something is Off with Homucifer’s world, and she’s likely the catalyst to helping Madoka regain her memory and stop/save Homura for good. An epic battle between those two would be pretty damn awesome. :D

And judging by the ending, implied to be suicidal. Chara is another child who may have or may not have had a traumatic violent past, judging by their hatred of humanity. Their suicide was successful, and if the Player decides to go the Genocide route, they can be warped into a cruel and violent person. Considering everything the two of them might have endured pre-game events, I'm astonished how much they have in common. :o
Chara + Frisk + Madotsuki: While kinder than the three of them at heart (you have to gain Chara and Madotsuki’s trust to access their softer centers), Frisk has the same potential for cold cruelty and mass destruction. Like Madotsuki and Chara, they’re implied to be suicidal and may have been neglected, and harbor the same curiosity about their surroundings and certain “what ifs.” Like Madotsuki, Frisk is calm regarding frightening sights and situations, sometimes even to the point of apathy. Considering everything the three of them might have endured pre-game events, I'm astonished how much they have in common. I can see Frisk trying to help Madotsuki and Chara at the expense of their own safety, while Madotsuki and Chara emphasize how much their life matters—and eventually realize theirs have value too.
Regarding the above ships, I'm far more interested in "Sad Angry and/or Numb Children bonding" over "Sadistic Serial Killers in partnership," but other than that, I’d love to see what you come up with!
Chara + Frisk + Niko: Then there is Niko, who is… the epitome of hope and light. I can see them getting along with Frisk easily, and Chara feeling soft and protective toward Niko the way they are toward Frisk. Maybe they bond over a plate of pancakes?
Poniko + Uboa + The Entity: Or as I call it, the Ultimate Mind-Screw. Is Poniko in a similar state of mind as the Entity? Is Uboa her version of the Squares? Take me to dark scary places plz.
The Judge + Zacharie + Sans: Undertale and OFF both deal with Player and RPG meta in different ways, so it's always fascinating to see them crossed over together. Sans shares a lot in common with the Judge and Zacharie, and I love the idea of them working together or becoming friends. How does the Judge and Zacharie receive Sans' puns? What would Sans think of their medium awareness?
The Judge + The Batter + Niko: The Batter and Niko are complete opposites of each other: the former sees no value in a dying world whereas Niko is determined to save theirs and see their new friends as more than just “simulations.” And yes, it’s cruel of me to put those two together to see what would happen. <.< With the Zones rife with nihilism and cruelty, is it better for Niko to try to save them or shut them down for good and go home? Would the Judge be a friend to Niko and/or function in a similar role to Rue? Is the Judge the reason Niko would still try to fix things?
Niko + Asriel: The Entity reminded me of Asriel if Asriel had entirely different goals. Whereas Asriel wanted to keep Chara/Frisk to himself forever because they were the one(s) who could always keep him from being bored and make him care about someone again, the Entity did everything it could to get Niko OUT of its world out of love for them. The Entity thought it couldn’t be redeemed, but with coaxing and encouragement from Niko, it was able to recall the code and get rid of the Squares. Would Niko be able to “tame” Asriel in the same way?
The Batter + The Entity: Now this would be interesting. Would the Entity side with the Batter or fight him every step of the way? When the Batter confronts the Entity, does it show up as his human form or his “bad” form?
The Batter + Frisk: Frisk could easily share a lot in common with the Batter, especially in the Neutral and Genocide routes. But since Frisk is likely to have done True Pacifist, do they try to reach out to the Batter? What would an interaction between the Batter and Soulless Pacifist!Frisk be like?
Homura + Sans: One is trapped in endless time-loops by her own choosing (for if she stopped, she’ll turn into a witch), and the other trapped in endless time-loops but having no choice in the matter and only able to recollect bits and pieces from previous timelines. One mustn’t EVER give up while the other has already given up--but both keep fighting and hanging in there for the one special person they love (one her best-friend-maybe-crush, the other his brother) How do they meet? Does Sans show up in Homura’s witch barrier in Rebellion? Does Homura fall Underground and they confront each other in the judgement hall?

This game came out in late 2015 and I'm still obsessed with it. Figures. And now that it's coming out on PS4 and Vita, I'm jumping right down to play it through them because I'm weak. It's just that powerful, poignant, funny, dark, heartbreaking, and empowering of a game. And since one of its biggest influences was the Mother series, it's catering to my tastes right there. :P
As Undertale is a game heavily reliant on speculation and interpretation (especially the human characters), you don’t have to take my headcanons/views of the characters at face value. I just thought I’d illustrate them to show you how I’d like to see them portrayed. :3

I'm okay with the self-harm headcanon for Chara. However, if you go that route, I must ask that you A. Write Chara as having quit or learning to quit. B. Not romanticize self-harm in any shape or form. C. DO NOT depict the actual act of self-harm (ex. a graphic scene of Chara cutting or burning themself)
Any combo of Frisk & Chara & Asriel: I can go on and on how much the Striped Time-Travel Trio dynamics mean to me, whether it be friendship or an OT3. Frisk and Chara found in each other the first human they can trust, and helped each other discover the good they are capable of and are so much more than what the humans who hurt/abused/neglected them deemed they should be. Chara and Asriel’s devotion to each other is sweet, which later got twisted to codependency due to forces outside their control—their determination to look at themselves critically and seek to change for the better is what would help their friendship heal and become stronger than ever post-True Pacifist. As for Frisk and Asriel, hoo boy. Flowey and Frisk feel like complete opposites, but his speech in the Genocide route shows that the two of them aren’t that much different; they were both innocent kind-hearted kids who got beaten down by tragedy, then after being given Reset Powers, their desperation for love (or the ability to feel it again) and control over their lives again led them to become cruel and apathetic, even killing people out of curiosity. I think after the two of them were lonely for so long, Frisk’s understanding of Asriel’s situation was part of why they were able to reach out and save him while he was Hyperdeath.
What I’m saying is the three of them complement each other in so many ways, and I love drawing comparisons and contrasts between everyone in the striped trio. All three of them are messed up in some way which actually draws them closer together (Asriel with everything involving Chara's death and Flowey, Chara despising humanity from a young age, Frisk falling down Mt. Ebott for an unknown reason that's often implied to be suicide), and watching them heal and grow and learn to communicate and share their feelings and take care of each other in a post-True Pacifist scenario is my kryptonite. ;;
Mettaton x Papyrus x Sans: I blame fandom and the two endings where the skelebros serve as agents for King Mettaton. :P I love the idea of Mettaton falling for both skeletons and loving them in different ways; he and Papyrus would build each other up and admire each other, while Sans provides witty banter and keeps him grounded. I love the idea of a post-True Pacifist scenario where Mettaton makes it big on the surface and starts becoming more curious about the skelebros when Sans takes Papyrus to all his concerts. I can see Sans being protective at first (not overprotective “THE BONE ZONE IS CLOSED” levels, just cautious due to said MTT endings) when Papyrus starts dating MTT, but after a while realizes he isn’t that bad, and might just end up falling for the sexy robot in spite of himself… Just flood me with sexy rectangles and bishounen, spaghetti, puzzles, hot dogs (or cats), Sans trying to rip off MTT with his wares, and terrible TERRIBLE puns, and I’m golden. 8)
Papyrus & Asriel: Flowey and Papyrus's friendship is fascinating to me. Not only does Papyrus create the Flowey Fan Club (in which he's the only member), Flowey admits Papyrus took him the longest to get bored of. But I rarely see fics where Papyrus and Asriel interact post-True Pacifist, which is a shame because those two are a goldmine of potential due to their "friendship" while Asriel was still Flowey. Maybe Papyrus feels Flowey was the one person who listens to him and takes him seriously (before he got to befriend Frisk and Undyne)? I always thought it would be sweet if Asriel confessed everything he had done to him as Flowey and Papyrus forgave him, or if Papyrus was one of the biggest driving factors to Flowey having a soul again. I can also see him being a cheerleader for Asriel as he adjusts to his original body, as well as helping him deal with the weird moodswings that come from being able to feel love and compassion again. :o
That said, I am FULLY aware of the age difference between them, so if you’re taking the shippy route, all I ask is A. Only pair them up when Asriel is older. Asriel having an innocent crush is fine, but Papyrus shouldn’t reciprocate until he’s grown up. B. I don't want anything too "dark" in their relationship. Acknowledgment of Flowey's deeds is fine as long as it's not too severe (canon-typical manipulation and murders are fine, but nothing from my dislikes), but please don't have post-True Pacifist!Flowsriel be cruel or abusive (and I mean Evil Sadistic Asshole levels, not "I'm a person and I can be mean and fuck up sometimes" levels). I want to see him heal and grow as a person, not be a reenactment of Flowey at his worst. Besides, I can't stand Papyrus being tortured. D: C. Feel free to get around the age gap by making Asriel come back as an adult when he regains his soul. I bet that’d be quite a surprise for the main cast, seeing another Boss Monster aside from Toriel and Asgore. :o
Smut option regarding the Asriel ships: When Asriel gets his body back, he’s never able to be good at fire magic. But he does retain his plant powers from his time as Flowey, meaning he can still summon vines...
Chara x Sans: The age difference rules apply here as well, though considering everything else about those two, age might be the least of your problems. <.<;;; Nothing defines “kismesis” quite like this ship. Maybe in Genocide route, Sans starts to get wind of another person besides Frisk, that a different human may show up at the gate looking exactly like the other. How will he know if it's Frisk or if it's that... other kid? Could that kid be swayed from killing or do they only stop due to Frisk regaining control? Could Frisk actually be cruel or is it Chara's influence? Could Chara themself be swayed from their plans of revenge? Cue Chara jumping on the chance to play mindgames with Sans. What if, due to Sans' medium awareness and how difficult battling him is, he is the reason Chara keeps resetting because they can't predict him, making them "interested" enough to keep coming back? Does their obsession with each other twist back into a nasty addiction, like Batman and the Joker? Nothing cute and fluffy here (not in Genocide Route anyway; it’d be interesting if they end up getting along or become frenemies in post-True Pacifist, considering how much they surprisingly have in common); I'm all about the dysfunctional antagonism between those two.
Asgore x Gaster: Yet another pairing fandom has completely won me over. I love the idea of Gaster being close to Asgore, and offering him comfort and solace post-Asriel & Chara’s deaths and Toriel’s banishment. I imagine him being extremely motivated to relieve Asgore of the guilt and burden that comes from collecting human souls and working himself past his limits to find a more ethical way to break past the barrier… only to fall into the Core and be wiped out of existence, oops. <.<;;; Does Asgore secretly harbor feelings for the Head Scientist that he is torn about confessing in case his ex-wife comes back and fix things between them? Does Gaster try to contact Asgore across timelines, via the flowers in his garden or his dreams? In a post-True Pacifist scenario, does Gaster come back (whether through his own devices or being saved) and reunite with him? Does Asgore still not remember and Gaster tries to jog his memories? Hell, is this the period where the two of them fall in love? The character bashing rule applies here: please don’t demonize Toriel or have her want to get back with Asgore! If Asgore and Gaster get together, I want her to be happy and move on.
Toriel x Muffet: Heeeeeelp! I’ve fallen into Goat Mom/Spider Queen hell, and I can’t get up! I think those two would get along great: they both have a great love for baking, have tight moral codes, are fiercely protective of those they love (Toriel with her children, Muffet with her spiders) and it’s probably no surprise Toriel has donated to the Spider Sales in the Ruins. Do the two of them keep in touch with telegrams, considering how far apart they live in the Underground from each other? Do they exchange recipes and mail baked goods for each other? Does Toriel get clothes and blankets out of spider silk? Hell, do they leave each other tips? Do they ever get the chance to go on tea dates? Would Muffet ever learn Toriel was killed in a neutral or genocide route? Maybe they haven’t met yet; do Toriel and Muffet meet each other for the first time post-True Pacifist? Similar to my earlier ship request, please don’t bash Asgore or make him the creepy mopey ex-husband. It takes away time from the goat and spider bonding. ;D
Burgerpants x Mettaton: I find this ship humorous and fun. :) I think while Mettaton teases him and can get vicious at times (see: making an entire CD full of songs about how much Burgerpants sucks at his job), he does genuinely care about him in his own way and stands up for his employee if anyone is being nasty or abusive to him (like in this fanmade audio continuation of this comic here). What would it be like for Burgerpants in the King Mettaton timelines? Would he be trapped as his permanent servant? How would Burgerpants react if Mettaton was killed on one of the Neutral Routes? Would he be in denial? Hell, what if in some twist of fate, Burgerpants has to comfort his boss when he’s having a bad day? Feel free to play with the Boss/Employee power dynamics and humiliation aspects of this ship (especially the canon detail from the patch update about Mettaton dressing Burgerpants up in various outfits for his own amusement) (“NEVER let hot people think you care. That's how they GET you.” Implying Burgerpants still thinks his boss is attractive. :P), as long as it doesn’t get TOO dark. :)
Burgerpants x Nice Cream Vendor: I shipped it before the patch update came out, and well, the patch update made this ship even cuter. :) I love the idea of the Nice Cream Guy trying to flirt through his ice cream wrapper messages, and Burgerpants not understanding the “jokes” yet, but tells him they’re good anyway for the free nice cream… what if one day, he figures out what Nice Cream Guy is trying to tell him? Or does Nice Cream Guy gather the courage and straight up ask him? Fluff would be adorable as fuck, but if you want to go the angsty route, how about something in the Genocide route? What if Nice Cream Man risked going traveling through Hotland to look for Burgerpants in hopes of taking him with him back to Alphys’ shelter? We know Burgerpants refused to leave work in case Mettaton comes back and yells at him later. What if Nice Cream Man was equally as stubborn and stayed with Burgerpants? Considering what a badass Burgerpants was during Genocide route, I can see him hiding Nice Cream Man from Frisk/Chara/The Player and taking advantage of his Shopkeeper Immunity status to protect him. Maybe the two of them share what their hopes and dreams were before everyone started getting murdered, and find solace in each other in the wake of the apocalypse?
Chara + Frisk + Asriel + Monster Kid: I see a lot of pictures of Frisk, Chara, Asriel, and Monster Kid hanging out together, and I think it's so adorable! I love the thought of those four being friends, and they epitomize what I'd love most about a post-True Pacifist scenario. MK was probably the first monster Frisk befriended who was close to their own age, and the thought of Chara and Asriel getting second chances and making friends with them too (Chara not having friends before they fallen down the mountain, and the implication that Chara was Asriel's first {and for a long time, only} friend) gives me warm fuzzies. How does Monster Kid feel about the trio's previous ability to Save/Load/Reset, if they're told? If not, do they figure out? How does Monster Kid—implied to have had a happy family life along with mysterious ties to a sister and possibly "Goner Kid" (one of Gaster's followers)—deal with the baggage Frisk, Chara, and Asriel had endured? How do the kids all stick together and feel inclusive without anyone feeling like a third-wheel? How do they learn to resolve such issues?
Asgore + Undyne: Hearing Undyne talk about Asgore during your "date" with her killed me. ;; I got the impression Undyne saw him like a father as well as someone she heavily admired, and Asgore saw her as not only his student but the daughter he never had. Something chronicling Asgore training her (from her vow to defeat him in battle to her eventual placement as head of the Royal Guard) would be awesome and amazing. *-* I wonder if Undyne was concerned or worried about Asgore's depression, and that's why she's so determined to catch the human--on top of making him proud and serving as hero to all monsters, she could spare him the grief from having to spill any more blood on his hands. Post-True Pacifist interactions, of course, are always a must. :D
Alphys + Mettaton: Ahh, the otaku scientist and the robot she “created.” I love their friendship and all its messiness, and I'd love to see it explored more in fandom. I like to think they made up and apologized to each other in True Pacifist, but I want to see the conversation where that happens. Surely Mettaton would learn the truth of the Amalgamates after Shyren joins him as part of his band? Does the guilt of her disappearance (possible suicide?) eat away at King Mettaton in his endings? How often does Queen Alphys think back on her fallen friend in her ending? What do they talk about while Alphys works on his Neo form in the Genocide routes?

OneShot is a gem of a game, and the Solstice update makes it a new classic in my eyes. It’s a charming game with a lot of heart, beautiful music, great characters, and a sense of warmth and hope despite the melancholy and (literal) darkness. The way it uses the fourth wall and your computer to further its narrative is innovative without being gimmicky or smug, and explores player agency without being damning or preachy. Also, Niko is the biggest cinnamon roll and one of my favorite main protagonists in gaming yet.
Feel free to use whichever pronouns for Niko you please! Word of God said Niko’s gender is entirely up to the player; I’ll just be referring to Niko in the letter as they/them for convenience’s sake.
This will be a general catch-all for the relationships I’ve requested, which can basically be summed up as, “I want Niko to be friends with everyone. ;;” I would love to see all the scenes Niko spends with each of the characters expanded: give me Silver being like a grumpy protective big sister to Niko and the two of them playing chess together! Give me Calamus and Alula taking Niko to their house and backyard and the three of them playing together and getting to be kids again! Does Niko stay with them if you choose to put the sun back in one of the original endings? Give Lamplighter longer elevator conversations or discuss the glass in his house! Make me wibble again with Ling giving Niko pancakes and console them as they talk about missing their mother! Remind me of Rue’s mysteriousness and her conversation with Niko on the Observation Deck! Show me how well Niko, Proto, Cedric, and Rue work together! Explore the bond between Niko and the Player! Was the Player awkward and nervous, the way I was while playing? Did they find strength and encouragement through Niko the way Niko found the same through them? You can base the Player off your own experiences from playing OneShot, or make up someone different from yourself in their place—it’s up to you! Finally, we get to Niko and the Entity. I won’t lie; when they finally got to talk to each other face-to-face in Solstice, I was weeping buckets. ("I really am a flawed machine, aren't I?") I find the fact that the Entity wanted to protect and save Niko all this time rather touching (then the revelation that Niko “tamed” them in Solstice? aaaaaaaa ;;) What would it be like if the Entity and Niko met in another universe? Would they get to be friends? Would they have a Homura and Madoka-esque relationship (aka the Entity wanting to protect Niko above all else, including its own happiness)? How much would the Entity sacrifice to save them?

Morty x Eusine x Falkner: While Eusine was on his search for Suicune (which I headcanon started when he turned ten, making him 20 during Crystal/HG/SS), I can see Morty starting to see Falkner a lot and falling for him. He tells him about Eusine, eventually introduces Eusine to Falkner, and everyone agrees an OT3 can work out. That said, I also see Eusine and Falkner not liking each other too much at first (Eusine finding Falkner way too serious and rigid, Falkner not trusting Eusine to not dump Morty for some pretty purple-maned diamond dog) and competing for Morty’s affections, in and out of bed. Nothing too serious or angst-worthy—hell, the two of them could grow to see they aren’t as bad as they thought the other was, though that drive to see Who Could Please Morty Better would always be there. Hell, Morty might be amused or turned on by this competition too. <.<
Morty x Eusine: Speaking of those two, how did they meet? How did they become friends? Was it their mutual love of legendary Pokemon and folklore? Due to their ties to their respective Pokemon (Morty to Ho-Oh, Eusine to Suicune), I think they understand each other in regards to trying to reach something that is supposedly unobtainable. Maybe it isn’t so much the Pokemon as it is something else connected to their past? (Eusine associating Suicune with memories of his grandfather, Morty and the expectations placed on him after the ancient events of the Burned Tower) Both their miniarcs in HG/SS seemed to involve letting go of their respective Legendary and finding a new dream (ex. Eusine congratulating the player after they catch or defeat Suicune, and Morty’s dialogue when you get his number at Bellchime Trail: "The legendary Pokemon did not choose me... But that does not mean that I have lost out on my future. I will continue my training until I discover a new future for me.”) Do they decide to look for that new future together? Or, Eugene Fitzherbert-style, discover that each other IS part of their new dream. Hell, I’m just going to quote from Tangled because it sums up how I see Morty & Eusine’s relationship:
“I've been looking out of a window for eighteen years, dreaming about what I might feel like when those lights rise in the sky. What if it's not everything I dreamed it would be?”
“It will be.”
“And what if it is? What do I do then?”
“Well, that’s the good part I guess. You get to go find a new dream.”
Lillie x Moon: Lillie is amazing, aaaaaaa. ;; I loved her character growth, and go figure, I ship her and the Female Protagonist (aka Moon. But feel free to name her Luna or Selene or similar. :) ) like crazy. I'd love to know what Lillie has been up to in the Kanto region? And since Moon lived in Kanto before moving to Alola? I imagine their emails and texts would be an interesting exchange, since Moon could give advice regarding landmarks she had been before
Hau x Gladion: One boy is a cold loner on the run. The other is a future kahuna Shounen Spirit. TOGETHER THEY FIGHT CRIME. In all seriousness, I really love how well Gladion and Hau's personalities complement each other. Hau helps Gladion loosen up and have fun, Gladion urges Hau to take himself more seriously and work hard. They're yin-and-yang in all the right ways, and nourish each other's strengths. :)
Hau x Sun: A boy moves all the way from Kanto into a whole new region with a whole new culture, and there he meets one of his new best friends—and not only is he his rival, something starts to blossom between them as they train and work hard to make their dreams come true. ;; I find this ship to be sweet and I’d love to see something post-game involving them.
For both Hau ships? All the malasada dates please. Hell yes.

OFF is a quirky and tragic game with a unique style, and it defines why I love RPG Maker/pixel horror games. The bizarre melancholy of the atmosphere and the world-building is something that's still stuck with me after finishing the game several years ago—hell, I was shocked it came out in 2008, it felt like it was much newer. :o
The Batter & Zacharie: Those two intrigue me. Zacharie clearly knows more than he lets on, and the Batter knows it. I can see Zacharie trolling/matching wits with the Batter, and Batter being irritated yet intrigued. (That, and riding the roller coaster at Zacharie’s theme park is one of the few times Batter shows emotion) What does Zacharie think of the whole Purification business, especially since he’s genuinely sad by Valerie (or at least wearing a cat mask to cheer the Judge up) and Sugar’s deaths? Why doesn’t Zacharie try to stop the Batter? Does he know it’s impossible to go up against the Puppeteer? Smut Option: feel free to use Batter’s “bad” form. :D
The Judge + Zacharie (+ Valerie): How did the Judge and Valerie become friends with Zacharie? Were they kittens back then? I want to know if Zacharie is still around in the Judge ending of the game, and if he could provide some bittersweet comfort as two survivors in an empty world together. Do they ever deal with the weird aliens from the secret ending?
Optional headcanon: I like imagining the Judge as a Sphynx cat, hairless and wrinkly with dark markings along his spine that make him look skeletal and creepy. :D Because Sphynx cats don't have fur, it's required to bathe them once or twice a week to wash the oil off their skin. Maybe Zacharie gives him and Valerie plastic baths? I think that'd be pretty cute. :D Does the Judge and his brother ever have to suffer ugly sweaters to protect them from cold or sunburn?

I think Yume Nikki changed my life forever. It was unlike any other game I played when it first came out, and my introduction to RPG Maker horror/pixel horror. Yume Nikki is a game that is a wide-open sandbox for interpretation, so feel free to look at my likes/dislikes as your guide. I'm MUCH more lenient with darker things for this fandom, considering its bizarre and sometimes disturbing atmosphere.
Important: I imagine Masada being one of the genuinely innocent characters in the game—and the ONE major male character who doesn’t want to hurt Madotsuki. So I’d humongously appreciate it if he wasn’t portrayed as Secretly Evil or abusive. Thanks. :o
Madotsuki & Masada: Romantically or platonically, this can either be absolutely sweet and fluffy, dysfunctional and terrifying, or both. Here’s some hcs you can work with:
- While I don’t think Masada was Madotsuki’s piano teacher IRL, I think he was inspired by a crush or a friend of Madotsuki’s. She calls him “Sensei” out of respect.
- I’m interested in Masada’s alien-esque traits. Sure, he looks human, but he’s no less unusual than most of the other dream denizens and is implied to speak his own language due to the odd “twitters” he makes.
- Give me your own spin on Madotsuki staying on his ship and crashing to Mars. Is Masada familiar with that place? Does he know Mars-san?
Madotsuki x Poniko: I’m so curious about those two. Were they friends? Did Madotsuki idolize Poniko and it twisted into jealousy and hatred? (See: Blonde hair effect) Did something happen between them IRL and Madotsuki felt guilty about it? How does her relationship with Poniko tie in with her relationship to…
Madotsuki + Uboa: What is Uboa anyway, and what is his (its) relationship with Madotsuki? Is it one of horror and animosity, considering that he takes her to one of the most nightmarish places in the game that she can only escape from by pinching? Does Madotsuki view Uboa as an eldritch abomination who took Poniko away from her? Does Uboa symbolize Madotsuki’s internal struggles? Why is Uboa drawn to Madotsuki’s cat form?

Because jealousy is a running theme throughout the series in all its incarnations (namely how destructive it can be and how it can be used as a weapon to turn girls against each other) I think it’d be amazing if post-series Anthy and Wakaba reflected on their own jealousy issues as a way for us to see how far they’ve grown now that they’re free from Ohtori’s clutches. :o I believe if Anthy and Wakaba gave each other a chance, they’d see they have more in common than they think: they’ve both been used by Saionji (physical/verbal abuse for Anthy, abandonment for Wakaba) and they held onto fairy tale ideals only to have them blow up in their faces because of who they are (Anthy unable to save or be with Dios ‘cause LOL SHE’S A WITCH, Wakaba being too “normal” or insignificant for any prince to bother to notice her) Yet both of them remind Utena who she truly is and what she is fighting for, helping her regain her agency—and in turn—revolutionize the world. And I want to mention how much the Wakaba jeep in the movie means to me and how much it makes me wibble. ‘Cause omg. ;;
Speaking of Utena x Anthy, I'm just as interested in the darker parts of their relationship and how they handle it post-series (the conversation they have after Utena saves Anthy from an attempted suicide is the first time they have actually confronted the elephant in the room in regards to their relationship) as I am with fluffier and happier moments between the two. The Canterella scene is easily one of my favorite scenes in the show, and I'm still fascinated by the possible reasons why Anthy stabbed Utena at the penultimate episode. A cynical centuries-old world-weary witch who in spite of herself, starts to fall in love with the girl who claims to be her knight... if that doesn't lead to a wibbly romance, I don't know what does.
Touga x Saionji (+ Nanami): I love the on-again-off-again friendship between Touga and Saionji, and the way it shifts between being manipulative as fuck or possessing the potential for something genuine. The new 20th Anniversary chapter really doesn’t help. <.< Saionji is one of two of the perfect people for calling out Touga on his shit, and the other? None other than post-series Nanami. I’d love to see more closure for her arc by letting her get the chance to call Touga out, which eventually leads us to the scenario of Touga and Saionji working things out and Nanami looking after them like we see in the epilogue.
Nanami x Wakaba: Someone brought it up in a Discord chat, and now I’m curious. Poor Wakaba has been through a lot, namely Saionji (and based off his elevator confession, Tatsuya wouldn’t have been much better. :( ) and then there’s Nanami, whom after her final arc, refuses to take any more of Ohtori’s shit. Remember: this is the girl who punched Saionji over an egg. Both girls have been manipulated and betrayed and reacted to it in different ways. Wakaba doesn’t want to be another face in the crowd, and Nanami wants to be more than “another fly in the swarm.” Come post-series, or close to it. Ordinary Girl meets ex-Queen Bee. Together, they develop a bizarre friendship that *might* become romantic. :o
Juri x Shiori: Those two hurt me in all the right ways. *sobs* The Black Rose confrontation scene is chillingly amazing and waaaaaah. How did those two meet? What were some of the things Shiori simultaneously loved/hated Juri for while they were kids? What happened to Juri and Shiori between Ruka’s death and the epilogue? Speaking of the epilogue, show me their journey of healing and how Shiori became part of the fencing team. Is there any hope of redemption for Shiori post-movie?
Chuchu + Akio and Anthy: I’m intrigued by the purple monkey’s ties to the Ohtori siblings. It’s clear Chu-Chu is extremely protective of Anthy, yet he possesses a lot of Akio’s characteristics (super-indulgence) and even wears his tie. Notably, Chu-Chu was originally going to be left behind with Akio (it was either Ikuhara or Enokido’s idea, I don’t remember who), but the rest of BePapas protested, and thus the monkey was saved. He even ditches his tie while joining Anthy to look for Utena. :o Does his loyalty for Anthy enable to him to overcome his vices? Is he a psychological compilation of Anthy’s and Akio’s issues, and the Anthy side won out in the end (compared to Dios “losing” to his Akio side)?

Mami x Madoka: I'd love a fic where Mami survives Charlotte and struggles to remain a good mentor to Madoka and Sayaka, and Madoka does her best to keep her sane. Or a fic where Madoka contracts and is so awesome as a magical girl that she ends up protecting Mami after everything that she's done for her. Madoka saving Mami's life, physically and/or mentally = all the wibbles in the world. ;;
Kyouko x Mami: I loved the spinoff manga, A Different Story. (Or as I call it, Puella Magi Mami Magica) I loved the character studies of Mami and Kyouko, and the way it dealt with their relationship with each other, from teacher-student to clashing ideologies to eventual forgiveness. But what really got to me was how Mami agonized over self-perfection. She wants others to see her as capable/calm/selfless/experienced and BE the role, or else when they find out she's not the "cool big sis" they imagined her to be, they would abandon her and sentence her back to loneliness... something I personally relate with all too well. So the scene where she confesses to Sayaka that she's not the flawless heroine she was hoping for, and later, the arc with Kyouko confronting Mami after her break-down? Knowing that Sayaka didn't care and saw her as a friend, warts and all, and Kyouko fighting to help her and sacrificing herself in spite of the rift in their relationship hits a strong chord with me. I found it heartwarming and consider the ending to be bittersweet because of that; Mami realized that she had friends who loved and respected her regardless of the decisions she made, and expressed hope in her farewell letter that the five of them would meet again in another life someday. (Which I totally believe they do at the entire of the series, thanks to Godoka. ;;)
So basically, I'd love post-Different Story fic of Mami and Kyouko reuniting in the afterlife. ;; While it’s not among the tagged ships, feel perfectly free to write or draw me a Kyouko/Mami/Sayaka OT3. Hanokage ships it as much as I do. :o
Homura x Sayaka: With Homura and Sayaka, this is where you can exploit the Enemy Mine trope for all its worth! :3 If there’s one thing that unites those two, it’s their love for Madoka and their desire for her well-being. One of the things I liked about Rebellion was how much Sayaka matured and how… aware she seemed to be of Homura’s situation, indirectly telling her she’s been through something similar and can help her if she’d let her. Then there’s the fact Sayaka seems suspicious something is Off with Homucifer’s world, and she’s likely the catalyst to helping Madoka regain her memory and stop/save Homura for good. An epic battle between those two would be pretty damn awesome. :D

Chara & Madotsuki: Madotsuki is a hikikomori who may or may not have had a traumatic violent past, judging by the horrific sights she could encounter in her dreams and the fact one of the "effects" she can pick up is a knife she could use to stab anything and anyone (and is not necessary to the gameplay unless you use it to slash open a wall to a secret area, which at the end is a disturbing mass of imagery she wakes up herself from). And judging by the ending, implied to be suicidal. Chara is another child who may have or may not have had a traumatic violent past, judging by their hatred of humanity. Their suicide was successful, and if the Player decides to go the Genocide route, they can be warped into a cruel and violent person. Considering everything the two of them might have endured pre-game events, I'm astonished how much they have in common. :o
Chara + Frisk + Madotsuki: While kinder than the three of them at heart (you have to gain Chara and Madotsuki’s trust to access their softer centers), Frisk has the same potential for cold cruelty and mass destruction. Like Madotsuki and Chara, they’re implied to be suicidal and may have been neglected, and harbor the same curiosity about their surroundings and certain “what ifs.” Like Madotsuki, Frisk is calm regarding frightening sights and situations, sometimes even to the point of apathy. Considering everything the three of them might have endured pre-game events, I'm astonished how much they have in common. I can see Frisk trying to help Madotsuki and Chara at the expense of their own safety, while Madotsuki and Chara emphasize how much their life matters—and eventually realize theirs have value too.
Regarding the above ships, I'm far more interested in "Sad Angry and/or Numb Children bonding" over "Sadistic Serial Killers in partnership," but other than that, I’d love to see what you come up with!
Chara + Frisk + Niko: Then there is Niko, who is… the epitome of hope and light. I can see them getting along with Frisk easily, and Chara feeling soft and protective toward Niko the way they are toward Frisk. Maybe they bond over a plate of pancakes?
Poniko + Uboa + The Entity: Or as I call it, the Ultimate Mind-Screw. Is Poniko in a similar state of mind as the Entity? Is Uboa her version of the Squares? Take me to dark scary places plz.
The Judge + Zacharie + Sans: Undertale and OFF both deal with Player and RPG meta in different ways, so it's always fascinating to see them crossed over together. Sans shares a lot in common with the Judge and Zacharie, and I love the idea of them working together or becoming friends. How does the Judge and Zacharie receive Sans' puns? What would Sans think of their medium awareness?
The Judge + The Batter + Niko: The Batter and Niko are complete opposites of each other: the former sees no value in a dying world whereas Niko is determined to save theirs and see their new friends as more than just “simulations.” And yes, it’s cruel of me to put those two together to see what would happen. <.< With the Zones rife with nihilism and cruelty, is it better for Niko to try to save them or shut them down for good and go home? Would the Judge be a friend to Niko and/or function in a similar role to Rue? Is the Judge the reason Niko would still try to fix things?
Niko + Asriel: The Entity reminded me of Asriel if Asriel had entirely different goals. Whereas Asriel wanted to keep Chara/Frisk to himself forever because they were the one(s) who could always keep him from being bored and make him care about someone again, the Entity did everything it could to get Niko OUT of its world out of love for them. The Entity thought it couldn’t be redeemed, but with coaxing and encouragement from Niko, it was able to recall the code and get rid of the Squares. Would Niko be able to “tame” Asriel in the same way?
The Batter + The Entity: Now this would be interesting. Would the Entity side with the Batter or fight him every step of the way? When the Batter confronts the Entity, does it show up as his human form or his “bad” form?
The Batter + Frisk: Frisk could easily share a lot in common with the Batter, especially in the Neutral and Genocide routes. But since Frisk is likely to have done True Pacifist, do they try to reach out to the Batter? What would an interaction between the Batter and Soulless Pacifist!Frisk be like?
Homura + Sans: One is trapped in endless time-loops by her own choosing (for if she stopped, she’ll turn into a witch), and the other trapped in endless time-loops but having no choice in the matter and only able to recollect bits and pieces from previous timelines. One mustn’t EVER give up while the other has already given up--but both keep fighting and hanging in there for the one special person they love (one her best-friend-maybe-crush, the other his brother) How do they meet? Does Sans show up in Homura’s witch barrier in Rebellion? Does Homura fall Underground and they confront each other in the judgement hall?
