Dear Night on Fic Mountain writer,
Thanks for being patient while I got my letter ready! And thanks especially for writing for me this NoFM. I'm really excited to see what you have to offer! :3 I understand that my fandoms are kinda on the obscure side even for a challenge like this, so I'll provide links to help you out. Without further ado, onto my requests!

Animal Forest | Animal Crossing

Animal Crossing is my current addiction and my life. XD New Leaf has helped keep me sane throughout college, and the previous games helped me out a lot during my early troubles too. So many cute villagers! And all the things you can create! With New Leaf, it only got better, and you could truly create a unique town. The original Gamecube Animal Crossing is now available on a rom, and this link gives a good comparison between the games in the series. New Leaf itself is currently being sold for the 3DS at half-price! :) You can watch the movie with subtitles here.
Canon: All games and the movie. If you count horror canons, Aika, Hitokui, and The Terrible Secret of Animal Crossing.
Ships: Tom Nook/Sable, Brewster/Blathers, Whitney/Apollo, Whitney/Ai, Ai/Margie, Ai/Rosie, Ai/Rosie/Margie. Villager pairings will be explained in the details.
Smut: No.
- (Movie) It seems like a stretch to give Whitney ("Bianca" in Japan) her own tag, but she's actually a recurring character in the Animal Crossing movie with her own subplot. It's revealed that she and Apollo were once a couple, but they had broken up for an unknown reason. It's implied that they're together again in the ending, with Apollo growing the blue roses to give to Whitney, perhaps as an apology. Unfortunately, that's about all we hear about them, and I want moooooooooooore. How did she and Apollo meet? What caused the split in the first place? I'm interested in seeing how an Ice Queen and King come together again, or at least rekindle their friendship.
Alternatively, I'd like to see fic exploring Whitney and Ai's relationship. I got the impression that Ai had a sort of crush on her, so something shippy between them would be cute. If not, just seeing the two be better friends or Whitney being invited to hang out with her, Rosie and Margie would be adorable. Fic with Ai and Margie and Rosie hanging out together would also be nice, whether they stay friends or fall in love. :)
- (Games) ABLE SISTERS. GIVE ME ALL THE ABLE SISTERS FIC. Feel free to write fic that explores their childhood in more detail, like the time Sable made her first mittens to save Mabel from frostbite. If sticking with the present is more of your thing, I'd like to see a fic where Labelle visits the Able Sisters and continues to reconcile her relationship with Sable (culminating in her working with her sisters again in New Leaf). Or fic where Mabel takes Sable with her to socialize more often, whether it's seeing K.K. Slider perform or hanging out at the Roost and/or befriending Brewster.
- (Games) I'm curious about the relationship between Sable and Tom Nook, especially since it was revealed that they were childhood friends before Nook went to the city. Did Sable have feelings for him then? Does she still do now? I'd like to see a fic where they finally talk to each other again, complete with awkwardness. Whether or not they get together romantically is completely up to you.
- (Games) Fics about villagers would be awesome. *-* I'm familiar with most of them, so feel free to go absolutely nuts and write about your favorites! But if you're desperate to know mine, I'm a big fan of the squirrel, wolf, bunny and octopus villagers, as well as most cats, dogs, tigers and sheep. This would be my dream town:
Marshal, Grizzly, Muffy, Cookie, Ankha, Stitches, Lucky, Snake, and Whitney. (And Fang and Chrissy and Francine and Static and Genji and... okay, shutting up)
Thanks to fanart and my own town shenanigans, I'm a total shipper of Marshal/Static, Grizzly/Skye, Muffy/Cookie, and Ankha/Lucky. Grizzly and Skye live next door in my town and hang out together all the time (Grizzly even adopted Skye's catchphrase!). As for Marshal/Static and Muffy/Cookie, I've snapped pictures of their finest moments: squirrels discussing the 'aesthetics of specific men' and Cookie deciding to dedicate a song to Muffy for inspiring her to be herself. As for Ankha/Lucky... well... look at those two.
Friendships would be awesome if romance isn't your thing. Cookie once told me that she planned on taking Grizzly to a shopping spree with her...
- (Horror) I love using the Dream Suite to check out creepy towns that other players have created. Two of the most infamous are Aika and Hitokui... one is a psychological story about a girl and her doll, and the other involves shifty rituals and cannibalism. The speculations about the towns count as prompts themselves. :o You can explore my own screencaps and analysis of the towns in their own links: Aika and Hitokui. Hitokui also has its own tumblr here.
Mother | EarthBound Zero
Look at those adorable children. Listen to that gorgeous music. This song is the Eight Melodies, and it drives the entire plot of this game. Mother (Earthbound Zero as referred to by the fans) is the first game of my favorite video game franchise ever, introducing many of the things I love about this series: wonderful characters, a quirky sense of humor, an RPG in a modern-day setting, AWESOME soundtrack, and above all, a lot of heart. And feels. ALL the feels. ;; Unfortunately, Mother 1 is the most obscure in the fandom, because it's an NES game paying tribute to Dragon Quest, making it notoriously hard to play if you're not the most old*sk00l gamer, and even then. I managed to get through the game with a lot of worthwhile effort (and this is someone who absolutely flunked Final Fantasy on NES in the first few minutes), but not many people have patience to play it, which is really sad because I'm torn between this and Mother 2 (aka Earthbound) as my favorite Mother game, and it deserves a remake so it could have more recognition.
Luckily, I'm here to help! Youtube Let's Plays aside, you can download the game yourself from your usual rom site, as well as an Easy Mode patch here. The Mother 1 + 2 version on GBA is a newer translation without censorship and an optional Easy Ring. You can see screencaps of the latter parts of the game that I made here:
Chitter-Chatter in Twinkle Elementary
Befriending Loid & Ana
Yucca Desert is the most boring part of the game. ~Actual Game Quote
Certificate from Itoi + A Not-So-Dreamy Never Neverland
Ellay! Remember kids, underage drinking is bad!
Strawberry Tofu, Honah-Lee & Mount Olympus
Magicant Swansong
Finale: Geigue Hates Rock-N'-Roll!
Just bear in mind that A. My commentary is several years old, back when I was playing this game for the first time. B. It's based off the older translation of the game, so there will be dialogue and naming differences from the new version.
Canon: Games. There's a novel, but I haven't read it. I've read parts of the Mother Encyclopedia, but whether or not you abide by its canon is optional. :)
Ships: Ninten/Ana, Ninten/Loid, Teddy/Loid, Pippi/Loid, Pippi/Ana, Ninten/Loid/Ana.
Smut: Yes, as long as you age up the characters. :o I don't mind teenagers experimenting together, but no younger than 15-16.
- All the world-building for this game, all of iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit! But I'm particularly interested in Magicant, Spokane, and Mt. Itoi. Maybe Ellay too. What is it like for Ninten to visit those places? What's the mystery of the Rosemary Mansion? How do Loid, Ana and Teddy react when he takes them to see Magicant and Queen Mary? What was it like for them to work with the Flying Men and how their deaths impacted the main cast? I imagine that Ninten loved Queen Mary and would sometimes come back to keep her company, telling her all about his adventures so far, introducing her to his friends, and telling her about the latest melody he found to cheer her up. Could you imagine how much it would devastate him to lose her, especially after finding out her true identity? Hell, how about Ninten, Loid and Ana's friendship with EVE, only for her to sacrifice herself in the end? Ninten, to me, seems like the most optimistic of the Mother series heroes, so of course he'd keep getting punched in the gut like this. :( Maybe at one point near the end, he finally hits a BSOD and Loid and Ana encourage him to keep going and that they'll make it? The game's motto is "No crying until the ending" after all...
- Poor Teddy. Nobody likes a muscular guy with an enormous pompadour. But I like Teddy! And I'd like fic of him! So I want to see a fic that goes into his past in more detail, how he became a leader, and most importantly, how he changed from being a brutal gang leader who thought power was everything to someone who was willing to lay his life to protect his new friends, acknowledged his mistakes, and realized that strength alone didn't come from muscles. I'd also be interested in post-game fic where he adjusts to his new life as a singer at the Live House. Does he encourage the rest of the Bla-Bla Gang to do the same and start their lives anew? And of course, anything exploring the dynamic between Teddy and Loid (The former initially dismissing the latter as a weakling, then later coming to deeply respect him) is good too. <.<
Raggedy Ann & Andy

It's all my original novel's faultand the movie, for inspiring me to write said novel that I'm obsessed with this fandom. *buries head in hands and sobs* So, uh. I like ragdolls. Porcelain and baby dolls, not so much, but I've always liked ragdolls. They're cute. And Raggedy Ann & Andy are the quintessential example. I was deeply surprised by those two, and I still keep getting caught off-guard. They were originally created by a guy named Johnny Gruelle around a hundred years ago who made up all these fun and colorful stories for his daughter, Marcella, to entertain her while she was sick in bed. When she passed away at 13 from an infected vaccination, every Raggedy Ann book was written in her memory. Raggedy Andy was later made because Gruelle's sons loved Ann and wanted her to have a brother so she wouldn't be lonely. More factoids about the dolls and their history can be found here. Raggedy Ann Stories and Raggedy Andy Stories are also found at Project Gutenberg, but if you ever get a chance to read Raggedy Ann & Andy and the Camel With the Wrinkled Knees, I humongously recommend it. It's really cute and charming and reads somewhat like a Studio Ghibli story. :)
A movie was later made about them in 1977 called "Raggedy Ann & Andy: A Musical Adventure." It was directed by Richard Williams (Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Thief and the Cobbler) with music done by Joe Raposo (the main guy who did the songs for Sesame Street). It bombed. Horribly. And this is probably the reason why.
tl;dr it's the trippiest, most disturbing animated "children's" movie I've ever seen, and I've seen some messed up shit for adults like Pink Floyd's The Wall. Yet despite all the freakiness and its other flaws, it's got some genuinely heartwarming moments and lost potential. I even liked a few of the songs, mostly from the movie's first half. You can see the movie for yourself here. Just, uh... be sure you're not drinking anything.
Canon: Books, movie, all cartoons except the TV show. Heck, I'm content with stories just about the dolls with no connection to any other canon. :o
Ships: None. I'm interested in Ann & Andy's sibling bond, but I prefer to keep things platonic.
Smut: No.
- (Books/Meta) You know that long history lesson I gave up there about Marcella's death? I want a story where in-universe, Marcella passes away from sickness, and her toys are left behind to grieve and are uncertain about their futures. How do they cope, especially Ann & Andy? While the subject matter is grim, it doesn't have to end in the same way; a bittersweet ending where the toys are at least able to move on and keep Marcella in their hearts is encouraged! Especially if Ann & Andy are still together and don't get separated in the end. Hell, if you're not going by book canon and Andy is brought into the home as a gift for a brother whose sister recently passed away (He'll meet his supposed sister Ann and be concerned why everyone seems so sad), I'd be good with that too! Just bring in all the bittersweet and the h/c feels.
- (Movie) If you haven't been scared off and are willing to tackle this, this is your chance to amp up all the dark, surreal, and creepy aspects of the movie Up To Eleven. Looney Land is what particularly got to me... What is its history? How come the Loonies and their world have never been discovered by humans? Is the Greedy part of Looney Land? There’s also a scene where King Koo-Koo tells Ann & Andy “You’re going to stay here and keep me laughing! Then when I am bored with you, you’ll become one of them!” What's the horrific process that gets involved for a toy becoming a "Looney?" Make the child in me sleep with the lights on for weeks.
- (Movie) See above, but alternatively, what happens if Raggedy Ann, Raggedy Andy, and the Camel become prisoners of Looney Land? How do they cope and try to find a way to escape without losing their minds? It'd be interesting if Babette ended up finding them on the pirate ship she took over, but refused to save them until she underwent Character Development and had a change of heart. That... would be absolutely badass. I'd like to see Ann & Andy actually DO things, too; especially the latter, since he went on and on about how tough he was, but we never actually get to see him do something courageous. If he offered to sacrifice himself to save his sister or something equally suspenseful and wibbly, you have all my love.
No matter what request you choose, all I ask is that you don't write Ann & Andy turning into axe-murderers or misanthropic cynics. One of the things I like about the dolls is that while they’re well aware that terrible things happen, they’re still compassionate and optimistic, and above all else, empathetic. :)
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

This is my favorite Mario game of all time. Hell, it's my second favorite game of all time after Earthbound. This game is unique in all the right ways and set the stage for many Mario RPGs (and even games in the regular series) afterwards: Bowser and Peach working together with Mario! Wacky and light-hearted humor! Great allies worthy of being playable in future games!Yes, I still want Geno in Super Smash Bros. *sob* Memorable and catchy music! Above all, a fun adventure that I've played who knows how many times and willing to play tons more. Plus the graphics are the best ever seen on SNES and reminds me of stop-motion animation. :)
Super Mario RPG is playable through ROM and Virtual Console, so there's no excuse not to play it. <.< Go go go! Even if you don't write for this fandom, you'll find playing the game worth very much your time. :3 Like Mother 1, Let's Plays are also easily found on Youtube. I also have screencaps for the game up to the first boss:
Opening :: Happy Adventure, Delightful Adventure
Prologue :: BDSM Subtext Galore!
Mario's Pad :: Exor's Grudge (Aka Phallic Symbols Galore!)
Mushroom Way :: Boring Tutorials & UH OH TOAD'S KIDNAPPED AGAIN!
Mushroom Kingdom :: We're Only Happy When it Rains! (Part 1)(Part 2)
Bandit's Way :: Never Smile at a Crocodile
1st Boss :: Mack the Knife and the First Star Piece!
Like the Mother 1 screencaps, be warned this is filled with a lot of commentary by my annoying older self. And it's likely I'll never finish capping the game, which really sucks. But it should be a nice preview to the game itself. :o
Canon: The game, of course!
Ships: Geno/Mallow, Geno/Peach, Bowser/Geno, Mario/Peach, Bowser/Mario, Bowser/Mario/Peach, Croco/Mallow, Johnny/Mario.
Smut: Uh... technically, you could? I'd recommend avoiding it though, just to be on the safe side.
- What if after the game, Geno decided to come back, whether on a visit or staying in the Mushroom Kingdom permanently? How have things changed? How would he and Bowser interact now that Bowser's back to full-time villainy? I'd love a fic where he meets Gaz after he's grown up. What's Gaz been doing with his life? I'd prefer if Gaz didn't forget about Geno though, that would make me upset. :(
- How's an older Mallow adjusting to life post-game? Nimbus Land is so different from the pond he grew up in, after all. How does he stay in touch with Frogfucius? Does he sneak out every once in a while? What does he dream about when he lies on the Dream Bed? How do he and Bowser interact? Does Bowser make a promise never to attack Nimbus Land in honor of his old ally originally being a member of the Koopa Troop? What about Croco? Does Mallow get to see him again?
- Johnny Jones is awesome and deserves more love. Tell me about a typical piratey day for Johnny and his crew, or tell me the greatest adventure he's ever sailed. Shenanigans galore!
God bless you if you've managed to read all that and are still willing to put up with me. I can't wait to read your story! May all your NoFM years be absolutely awesome. :3
Your Recipient,
Puri

- Grumpy softies. A lot of my favorite characters fall into this category; they seem mean or distant, but it's clear that they have a soft side. (See: The Cranky villagers in Animal Crossing) This kinda falls into TV Tropes' Jerk With a Heart of Gold category, but also includes characters that are just SRZ BZNZ without necessarily being harsh to other people.

- Rape and sexual abuse
- Graphic depiction of drugs and alcohol. Characters having a party and doing silly drunk shenanigans are fine; people shooting needles up their arms, snorting cocaine, or going in a downward spiral due to alcoholism isn't.
- Love triangles in all shapes and sizes and polygons.
- Infidelity
- Third Act Misunderstanding and the Liar Revealed tropes. Nothing makes me madder than when books, movies, and video games do this. Regarding the latter, I have a bit of an ostracization squick; seeing a character who isn't a deserving villain being exiled or banished just makes me uncomfortable.
- Mpreg/Pregnancy/Miscarriage/Abortion
- Eating disorders
- Child/Animal abuse. I'm more lenient with this for darker fandoms (I don't mind if it's anthropomorphic characters like Sonic who get hurt, because they at least have a say and are close somewhat to regular humans), but I'm especially squeamish about animal cruelty, such as what you see in Cannibal Holocaust.
- Incest and pedophilia
- Zombies, vampires, and werewolves (The exception is Mother 1, since zombies technically DO show up at the beginning of the game. I just don't want an entire fanfic centered around them. :P)
- A/B/O AUs
- Misogyny/slut-shaming/Madonna-Whore complex and Nice Guyism
- High school/Coffeeshop/"Normal" AUs
- All-hurt-and-no-comfort fic. There's gotta be a balance!

Great allies worthy of being playable in future games!
Prologue :: BDSM Subtext Galore!
