You know what a pet peeve of mine is in RPGs?
- A number of brats up to no good drag you along to look for treasure.
- Hero finds treasure. Congratulations! Monsters are back!
- Said brats blame you for this mess without an apology.
- Entire home village hates you and banishes you.
I don't care if it's "original." I think it's insulting. The stupid kid may or may not have said he was sorry after shoving me into the hole with the First Boss, but eh, the damage is done.
Let me guess, do I beat the game and suddenly my hometown will accept me back, praising me that they "knew" I could do it as if they always believed in me while oblivious to their own previous actions? I don't think so.
This is why I love this line by Rorschach, 'cause it sums up my thoughts on this completely: "...And all the whores and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!'... and I'll look down and whisper, 'No.' They had a choice, all of them."
