Puri bought the Rise of Darkrai manga from Barnes N' Noble. Puri didn't expect much except cute art, expecting the adaptation to suck as much the movie did. Puri read it in one sitting.
Manga is infinitely over 9000x better than the movie.
"I've got a weakness for the hard-shelled softies, so Darkrai really got to me. Just imagining it battle all alone to answer the prayers of the little girl who was kind to it is enough to tear me up... and so, that's why Darkrai has become my favorite Pokemon." --Ryo Takamisaki
Brock and Dawn actually DO something! No pointless triangles or forced OTPs! More Ash & Darkrai tension! I actually felt a little more sympathy for Darkrai! The Alicia & Darkrai flashbacks are cuter and sadder! Alice is better developed through her memories of her grandma and Tonio more interesting due to his ties with Godey? Alamos is actually in peril with boulders exploding like fireworks and townspeople screaming! Alice & Tonio are allowed to be vulnerable and *GASP* not omniscient and Ash and gang doubt them a couple times even when they say the right thing. There's one panel where going going to Tonio for help, and the most he could do was stare at the ground in confusion; he doesn't know. Even the ending was less cheap and groan-worthy: Palia and Dialga just leave in one page and the city is healed, rather than Ash going on a big sermon for Palkia ruining everything when it was clearly Dialga's work too. (Last line of the manga: "I'll challenge you again someday, Darkrai!?"
Speaking of Tonio. He's humongously adorable in the manga. Having irises helps.
Back to the miserable abyss of my life and the visibly zero future I have.
