After leaving "OFF" alone for a while, I decided to go ahead and finish it before I got spoiled to the endings. And here are my thoughts!

The art style reminds me a lot of a bizarre sci-fi film called "Fantastic Planet." Go figure, both the movie and this game were originally French. The music is catchy and eerie too. I love the piano theme from when you fight the Queen. *-*

I was one of those people who wanted to know what the zones looked like after they were purified, so seeing Purified Zone 1? That... was unsettling. I had the sneaking suspicion that the Batter was actually trying to "purify" the world by eradicating it, and it turned out I was right. :o The Secretaries were pretty spooky too. Though the Zone 3 ones weren't as scary for me because they reminded me of Oompa-Loompas, haha. XD

I see the Batter as a Dark Messiah. He does all those horrible things without a single care (killing his wife and kid too), and yet... is it for the better after all? The Guardians wanted to rebuild the world, but they became corrupted in their endeavors. Dedan is cruel to the Elsens, Japhet went insane after trying fruitlessly to get his people to like him, and then there's Enoch... he burns corpses into sugar to give them as treats to the Elsens, and look how that turned out. Did the Batter get rid of his emotions and attachments so he wouldn't feel remorse during his mission, and do what he has to do? I feel uncomfortable calling him a "hero," but the universe that Hugo and the Queen tried to rebuild feels damned either way. With Hugo only an infant, did he have the mental capacity to create a utopia after all? I'll have to give it some more thought. The morality is as gray as gray can get.

I feel so sorry for the Judge/Pablo. :( He breaks down after losing his brother, and then he's horrified when he unwittingly assists the Batter (and in extension, the Player) in what turns out to be genocide and world destruction. If you side with him, he's all alone in an empty, dying universe. Almost everybody is dead. You've likely killed Sugar, the Elsen in the safe room will eventually die from lack of smoke or food, and the Secretaries may or may not be the lost souls of the Elsens crying for help. At least he's got Zacharie... it makes me want to draw h/c art of him petting Pablo in his lap. Friends got to stick together, right? ;;

The special ending was... yeeeeeeeeeeeah. That was random and had nearly nothing to do with the game at all. :/ Guess Mortis Ghost wanted to cheer up the player with a Big-Lipped Alligator Moment after the sad/bittersweet endings. I didn't find it worth it though. Though choosing to get the Ashley Bat after collecting all the elements does give it a really dark twist when you consider what the Batter's going to do to the Queen and Hugo. :o

I wonder what the white things around the Queen were. Ribbons? Gates guarding her? Wings without feathers, therefore exposing the bone? Or hell, just bones or metal? She did have add-ons of her own.

The burning Elsen that does nothing but cry for help in Zone 3... poor bastard. :( This game was probably the closest that I've felt like a murderer since Yume Nikki. ;;

I definitely recommend this game! I can't believe it came out in 2008-2009... with the way everyone talks about it now, I thought it was recently made. I had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. :)
