*singing & frolicking* Happy Happy NIN Time~

NIN-NIN NIN-NIN NIIIIIIIIN~!

Back from concert~~~~~!

Prepare for super long entry beneath the cut. There's NO holding back from fangirling~~~~! X33333

Taking place at Corpus Christi, Concrete Street Ampitheatre. :o

Mom says the place and sound system really bites and gets dark, so I helped out in asking for directions from wandering kids to find a free parking lot and not get lost. *nod* Apparently, she worked at a kajillion rock concerts before: as an usher and checking presspasses so people didn't bring cameras unless they had a pass or something. AND she tells me she was there for Aerosmith:

"Stand right there."
"Um, okay. *nod*"
"You're Steven Tyler, and I'm me--that's how close we were."
"Wow...! oO;;;"

We approached the theater, and well... we had to wait for a very long time. As in, a loooooooooooooooooong time. @.@;;; The ticket said 7:00 PM; Mom said not to worry about missing them, since there'd be stage setups and such. What can I say? The actual show started at 9:00. Nine O'Clock. Drove me batty, and I was getting bored to death and wondering if they were ever gonna play at all. There was stage setup, and there was lights, and then...!

Two people came on stage: some synth guy and a rapper that had NOTHING to do with NIN. A rapper.

One hour for these guys? Puri was grumpy and not at all uppity.

It was also pretty chilly for our usual town weather--Mom and Bro (Dad had to attend a business trip in San Diego) were freezing, but I was lucky/smart enough to bring a jacket so only my hands got icy and bothered me. @.@;;; (Mom: But you got wet hair! Me: It dried quickly, and I had a hood. I wanted to clean and freshen up for NIN. ._.;;;) Mainly moved back and forth a lot to suck in fresh air--there were a gajillion smokers there. @.@;;; (And Mom caught something herbal in the air--a marijuana user) But then, guess I shouldn't be surprised. Gwarg. Mom said I was small enough to start sneaking to the front, so I thought, "Hey, why not give it a go?" So I started body-surfing.

Me: *passing by*
Girl: You know, you're not supposed to say "excuse me" at a rock concert!

She actually has a good point. XDDD;;;

I actually got ahead pretty far, until the people were kind of unpassable and tough. XDD;;; But I got through a stable enough place, behind a guy (dressing casually and in his 20s/30s) who said he was listening to them since the 80s, and a girl next to her who was enthusiastic about them without being too incredibly scary. XDD;;; (We exchanged words a little. Meanwhile, I just stayed quiet and listened to everyone around me. XDD;;;) Considering how the weather's been, being smushed around people was actually pretty toasty. XDDD;;; ^^ That, and people had less room to spark their lighters for cigarettes, so muwahaha, I'm clear. X333 ...Mostly.

"Nine Inch Nails! Nine Inch Nails! Nine Inch Nails!" Some guy in front of me and probably a few others. Maybe some calls of "Trent!"/"Trent Reznor!" too. But everyone was quiet pretty quickly--told that to Mom later, and she told me it was because it was futile while waiting for the stage to be set up. XDDDD;;

Finally, just when I was getting doubtful, and I was tired of seeing the decorations/lights risen up, risen down, seeing random stage managers toy with microphones, wires, instruments, etc...

Everything flashed dark. There was applause.

BOOM!

There were lights and frozen gas. There were multi-colors. There were squeals and screams.

"I am the voice inside your head (and I control you)
I am the lover in your bed (and I control you)
I am the sex that you provide (and I control you)
I am the hate you try to hide (and I control you)"

There was Trent.

"I take you where you want to go!
I give you all you need to know!
I drag you down, I use you up!

Mr. Self Destruct!"

And I was THIS close. Square in the middle, where he was. (And gods, he's more gorgeous (OMGI'mNOTadmittingthat) awesome-looking than I imagined! That leather jacket just makes him whole. *___________*)

There was just this magical feeling, getting to see him up close between the two guitarists and the other guys, especially his face! (an important thing to catch. *nodnod*) And starting from THAT song...! *________________* Bap Puri if she wasn't squealing her little heart out. 'Cause I may have been wearing earplugs, but all my joyous fangirling would've probably woke the continent. XDDD;;;

Next came a song I didn't recognize, but the fans certainly knew since they sang along with him. XDD Mmm, guess I didn't catch that one... I'll have to look into it later. *nod* I spent time looking at pretty, pretty Trent and admiring the pretty lights that were blasting over the place with the music and singing and of course, Trent's cursefest. :) That, and the crowd was starting to get rough--at first, the portions of us being shoved were like this little relaxing ride at a themepark or something, but then, things started to get really intense and dangerous. ._.;;; Not only is waving your hands in the air a Nifty Fangirl*Technique, it also gives you support and keeps you from being pulled under. @.@;;; A girl older than me (somewhere in 18-20s) had to make through and we had to clear the way, but it was really difficult since I was getting mashed and I had someone's elbow hitting my stomach and that hurt. ._.;;; Managed to let her by though, but oish! It was getting REALLY difficult and I was starting to get pushed around, to the point where it was even difficult to breathe! oO;;;; Made sure to take deep breaths though and keep standing, or else I was gonna get literally stomped to death. Once knocked to ground = One Dead Puri. Imagine that on my gravestone: R.I.P. Puri-chan. 1988 - 2006. Crushed by NIN enthusiasts.

"March of the Pigs" started. Go figure, I got REAL excited. So did the other NIN crowd.

Now I was REALLY having problems. Not only was I being shoved about (and everyone and their mom was jumping like hyper kangaroos set on fire), I was BUSTED if I didn't get outta there soon. Thankfully, since I was so tiny and weak and I was being carried somewhere farther back in the crowd anyway, I decided I had to surf back for a clearing, or else it'll be my LAST concert. XDDDD;;;

I found a clearing all right. Apparently, a place where fanboys went nutso during the crazy fast CHAAAAAAAARGE! parts and brawling and pushing and shoving about the pit. @.@;;; More "oof!"s and "OW!"s and "aaugh!"s for me. I was scared I'd get injured or slugged ("Look Ma! My first rock concert bloody nose! :D"), and I was getting pretty beaten and tuckered. @.@;;; Didn't give up, though--moved somewhere at the edge of the circle where the action was less rabid. I survived listening to Trent give the finale ("Now doesn't that make you feel better?), and of course, cheered ("The pigs have won tonight..."), and smiled in relief I still lived. XDD;;; ("Now they can all sleep soundly...") And everything is all right. ;D

"Something I Can Never Have" started, so it was even more Super*Relief for Puri. XDDD;;; She took the oppurtunity to move a little back, like somewhere along the clearing pit (but close enough to still see Trent's face a little, albeit not as well, but still enough to see him. *nod*) IMO this was 'prolly the weaker part of the concert, Trent sounded a little weak/strained compared to the dramaticness/hurt of the non-live version. But then, that could be me. Or me trying to recover or something, or the sound system. And eh, what do I know? XDDD;;; Still cool, though. I was able to take a breather, which was nice. There was a lotta purple/violet/sky-blue hue in the headlights too, which was purdy. :3

Puri recognized it a hundred kajillion 100000000000000000000x PI-CUBED lightyears off: the first two beats, baby. The North and South Americas cringe and plug their ears YET again. The crowd followed.

There was Trent above the drums, at the highest place on the ampitheatre, learning into the microphone and knowing this was our favorite:

"You let me violate you... you let me desecrate you..."

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd Puri's already in Gaga*Land. Damn, the drums and bass know how to pump from your heart. Like, whoa about having humongoid sound and music around you. *________________*

Fun? Hell yeah... hell yeah. It's been fun. This sealed it. Oh yeah. I was rockin'. I was in the spirit. XDDD

And yep, slightly better than the last song. But still damn bloody magical. *________________________*

I think there was more music I didn't recognize after that, but then I heard little squeaks, wondering what it was--and wham! It was "Eraser" all right. It was Instrumental*Time! But! This was when the sound system decided to go wonky. After several plucks of the "ding ding DIIING DINGDINGDING" part with the strings, it died off, and "Eraser" had to go without it. (Trent apologized after that, poor guy. XDD;;;) Was still haunting, though... it was perfect and Trent's voice faded with the static with each "Kill... me...!" so it was all good. 8) Meanwhile, I was praying they wouldn't play "Reptile" or something, or Mom was definitely gonna be scarred and gonna kill me. XDDD;;; (And that was the last time I worried about what my family thought of me listening to NIN. XDDD;;; Rest of the time, I was fangirling) In the end though, it didn't matter. I was good and uppity for anything. :)

There was some other instrument going... then I thought, "Hey, wait a minute. I know this..."

Go guitars go! I knew it!

"The Day The World Went Away", on a different key. :) And of course, along with cheering and jumping and dancing and waving of arms, I quietly mouthed the words with him:

"I listen to the words he'd say
But in his voice, I heard decay
The plastic face forced to portray
Of the insides left cold and gray
There is a place that still remains
It eats the fear, it eats the pain
The sweetest price he'll have to pay
The day the whole world went away..."

I so need to make that the theme of a future villain in an original one day. *nodnod!*

It seemed like eternity, with the fans cheering as the instrumental went on, and then when the "Na naaaaa naaaaaaa"s started, I was like, "Oh yeah! I remember now! We still gotta do those. X333" and I think everyone sang along or something like that.

Then, came what had to be one of my FAVORITE parts (out of the ten kajillion favorite parts) of the concert:

"Hey Pig! Yeah, you..."

The continent's hearing aids have snapped. For the third time.

What can I say? I liked "Piggy". It's just so mellow and awesome. Apathy with Class~ X333 Ye gods, the live version just now? HOMGOMGOMG. You can TELL this is Trent's favorite or something. 'Cause wow, he sounded humongoidly proud, enthusiastic and energetic, and 100% Crystal-Clear Reznor~! :3333 Not to mention he was having fun, with all the power he's putting into his singing and such. X3333 ("Hey MOTHER. FUCKING. PIG! There's a lot of things I hoped you could help me understand..." Such a nice touch~ ;33) Wheeee~! Definitely a great one. Definitely. I could just jump and cheer again right now! ^_____________________^ *________________*

Of course, Trent talked to us a little bit, thanking us and such. :) Twice he also mentioned the surprising circumstances of our weather. XDDD;;; "You know what? It's fucking cold here! I keep hearing this was supposed to be warm here... ._.;;;" But he's happy to be here (and it shows~), and we've been a wonderful audience, and hee~! I'm just happy to see Trent~ And the rest of NIN~ Hee~ (Hope they managed to stay somewhere warm for the night, though. They 'prolly already have by now. ^^)

Next, there was a song I thought I couldn't recognize, at first, but then, I think as it got along (around when he started singing, I think), I thought, "Wait a minute! I know this one too!"

"There is NO YOU, there is ONLY ME!
There is NO YOU, there is ONLY ME!
There is NO FUCKING YOU! There is ONLY ME!
There is NO FUCKING YOU! There is ONLY ME!

Only... Only...!"

At this part, the fans were definitely involved, and the audience and Trent were pointing at each other and it was fun. X333

"Everyday is Exactly the Same" was next, and I took the time to see how gorgeous the lights were yet again and whatnot. Pretty, sparkling staticy stuff flashing and magnifying and such. *__________* I have to say I've been closer to this song as of late (no pun intended. *cough*), so that was another bonus. "You Know What You Are?" came after that, and so the crowd had the oppurtunity to chant "Don't you fucking know what you are!?" at the top of their lungs. XDDD Ahhh, yay for silly bouts of cursing and Trent making it awesome. XDDD;;; 'Twas definitely a With Teethy hour. *nodnod* 8)

"Hurt" came next. Again, not as wrenching as it was on the CD, but hey, who could blame when you're this uppity? Still, was a really neat performance, and I felt a little sad too--not only 'cause the song itself is sad of course, but that now the concert seemed to be over...

...Until "The Hand That Feeds" boomed.

Fangirl Moment! Ring ring ring~! And talk about WONDERFUL transition! *________________* Puri got booging again, for sure! Damn, it's like that song was BORN to be performed live. It was just magicallyawesomeandeeeeeeeeeeeeeeNINTrentOMG~!

I seriously hoped there'd be a few songs left. I really, really did. There was one more too, and I suppose the concert wouldn't be complete without a round of sing-a-long with...!

Me & Crowd: "Head like a hole! Black as your soul!
I'd rather die than give you control!
Head like a hole! Black as your soul!
I'd rather die than give you control!

Bow down before the one you serve!
You're gonna get what you deserve...!"

Trent threw his electric guitar in true traditional dunk-your-guitar method, and all the members of NIN left stage... and we'd just stand there, staring at the empty stage after they'd left. It's like, "No, they're not gone. They're still here. They're coming back, right?" I didn't want it to end... heck, it was late, but I was willing to go through the entire thing again. I was like a little kid at bedtime, begging Mom or Dad to read my favorite story "One more time? Pleeeeeeeeease?" Lights came on, and everyone dispersed. I skipped off in search of Mom and Bro.

Mom was impressed with the lights, apparently. XDDD We talked a little, she shared more of her concert experience, we walked and reached around for the car, it was all good. Me? When I got home, I just kerplunked into bed. I was this tired, this exhilerated. I was willing to type it all up on LJ in .3578957289672468944 seconds, right from pure raw emotion, but since I still had school tomorrow along with assignments to finish and stuff when I got there, the importance of sleep came first. XDDD;;;

But wow. Wowowowowow. WOW. W-O-W.

WOW~!

School that day, I never had that much energy pumped in my legs before. Must be all that standing I did for hours. (Good thing I'm a Choir student, where it's necessary to stand for long periods while singing and such) People thrown beer and some of it got sprayed in my hair, so I had to fingercomb through sticky parts. Ick.

But dear gods, it was SO worth it. *________________________* The only thing that makes me sad is that Trent didn't sing "The Perfect Drug" (wouldn't have minded "We're In This Together" either. *sniffle* I think he's against me in the Random Puri Sonadow*Inspiration department. XDDD;; Ah well. Unless "Closer" counts for interesting plot-bunni--*NIN AUDIENCE STAMPEDE'D!*) Oh well, 'prolly didn't have room or wouldn't fit. Always a next time, right? The concert was wonderful & perfect by itself anyway~~~~~~~

I'd so relive it right now~~~ Wheeeeeeeeee~~~!

But now, I grab milk and go to sleep. Let another batch of fanboys dream about Rob Zombie or something, NIN's got me booked for a looooooooooooooooong time~! Hee! X333333333333
