Mar. 15th, 2005 10:04 am1) Sally forth to Fanfiction.net. Gird thy loins. Plunge in.
2) Choose a book, movie, show, etc. you have never heard of (or, in a pinch, at least one you know nothing about aside from the name) that has at least ten fics listed.
3) Read only the first page of story summaries.
4) Using what you have learned from these summaries, describe what this book/movie/whatever is about. Be as silly as you like, but ONLY use whatever you just learned...
Let's go to the Animé section and pick something called "Haibane Renmei": 33 fics, two pages.
Seems there is some kinda race/organization called Haibane Renmei, secluded and rejected from all others. Something about two twins of unknown origin named Rakka (who seems to be the main character, or at least most popular) and Reki, including the mysterious Twin Haibane that don't seem to be revealed at the end of the series. something about Rakka having forgotten her past, but has awareness of the disappearance of her human life, and there was a summary mentioning that she "was beginning to understand her new life." Haibane Renmei also sounds like a fierce place to become a member of, considering someone in one of the series gets his left arm amputated. That, and there's something about a Communicator, whom I guess is supposed to be a lot like TEC from "Paper Mario 2", and tends to get the most interesting summaries such as "the Communicator seeks revenge" with Maybe Rakka for the title, and discovering "an alternate use for the Halo Mold."
My guess is the organization takes place in a world called Glie, where Rakka arrives at. And she gets something about a mysterious dream of a cocoon, ("A cocoon on the outer wall? Could it be Ptolemy?") and chances are, the so called "Twin Haibane" are also on the other side of this "cocoon wall" at the end of the series, too. The only ship on the first page was Rakka/Clothing Shop Man, and the most popular fic genres are mostly Drama/Angst/Tragedy and General, with interesting mixes such as Spiritual, Mystery, Supernatural, Poetry, a Fantasy, and only a couple humors. From first page, most of it's G or PG-13, with several PGs, no Rs. At the same time, most stuff here is drabbles. XD
Well, that wasn't something I've expected from my random fandom. (Haha, I made a rhyme. XD *brick*) So... anyone who's ever seen this show, could you let me know how accurate I am? XD kthnx.
