Oh, okay! That makes a lot more sense- not in the fandom, like I said, so I didn't realize they'd changed things other than the name. Someday I'll get the hang of this whole "hearing the whole story before I start making judgements thing," I swear.
And I agree! I think a big part of it is that as people get older, they get this urge to sort of... take apart their childhood, I guess? Sort of look at it from a darker POV. And I've actually seen really, really cool stuff come out of that approach, but some of the time (like with the Belle thing) I just get the feeling they're seeing things that aren't even really there. I haven't seen that particular Family Guy epsilon, but I've seen enough to imagine it, haha.
