Anthy's more likely to play into my worst fears for the second season/final movie of Madoka. :P
I referred to Anthy/Utena on #17 because there's certain idiots in the Utena fandom who are still convinced that they're ~*~just friends~*~ The pairing I've gotten shit for is actually Jeff/Tony of all things; a couple people on tumblr were convinced it exists because the fans felt Jeff was ~*~entitled~*~ to Tony regardless of what Jeff actually wants. (wtf) They were also incredibly passive-aggressive and read the first few paragraphs of an innocent smutfic I wrote years ago before declaring it ABUSIVE OMG!!1!1 and fell into further despair because I tainted one of their favorite Sarah McLachlan songs. And they felt the need to jab me for Poo/Paula too for writing the fanfic (which they probably only read the first few sentences of, judging from their comments about it) that made them "HATE THE PAIRING FOREVER IT MAKES ME SOOOOOO UNCOMFORTABLE OMG" More about that little experience here.
It just... screams wholly of "STOP LIKING THINGS I DON'T LIKE!!11!1" and they fell back on "THAT'S PROBLEMATIC!!11!" to justify their actions and shame their opponent.
tl;dr After years of it being my favorite fandom to hang out in, I finally had my Worst Earthbound Fandom Memory and now I'm extremely cautious and wary of the Tumblr!Earthbound fandom.
