Puri Scanventures! Rise of Darkrai
Remember when I said the manga adaption of Rise of Darkrai is 1000000000000x times better than the movie and that I was going to scan it later when I had spare time? Ladies and gents, that spare time has come. Get ready for the refund you deserve. :3
While we're at it, Kyukyu-kun is getting off on the Space-Time Stairway. (Feel free to scroll over the pictures to read captions if your comp's compatible too. :3)
Okay, we're at the first line in and Ryo Takamisaki is THIS close to saying "grumpy softies". Puri*Vocab! *SQUEAL* I feel close to this guy already. Heck, everything he says here makes me wibble. Too true man. Too true. ;______;
We're given short bios along with a page of contents, but no one cares about that. Let's go to the first chapter...
Sexy. *whistles* Could've fooled me, it looks like official Anime art too. :o
Dialga and Palkia, two souls that never should've met, blah blah blah. Fuck them. But it's the narrator who says this instead of Tonio. :o Tonio's not even IN the prologue. All the better I say. Dialga and Palkia exchange a bitchslap before leaving the scene. We move on to Ash & Co. and once again they came at the wrong end of Alamos. Which introduces us to...
I like the way Alice's hair is shaded in this manga, particularly the dark ends of her hair. :) I don't recall a lot of difference between Manga!Alice and Movie!Alice except in the manga Alice's role is far more subdued, and while snippy and assertive in the movie, here she's much nicer and mellowed down. :o
Here Puri wants to scan the pretty landscapes and sceneries. The Space-Time Tower in the first panel reminds me of a cross between the Emerald City of Wizard of Oz and Mother 1's pink spirals of Magicant. :D
One of the things I like about the manga is how much more important Godey is held in regards to the plot. :) This is his only appearance in the story (and he doesn't look at all like the sweet grandpa in the movie. :o I hate to think how insane THIS Godey must've gotten), but damn are they gonna mention him a lot. Did I mention he's real?
Fast forward to the garden. Piplup and Pachirisu get in a bitchfight, Pikachu tries to break it up and fails, and guess who saves the day!
One of the fun things is I can hear Brock in that panel with his Eric Stuart voice again with none of the headcold. ;D
Yep. No Gallade. :( Oh well, I'd rather it be Chimchar than having poor Gallade hang around doing nothing for the rest of the story. ;; Also? Alberto scares the living crap out of me in that panel. Seriously, it's the fangs! oO;;;
While everybody looks cute and adorable in the manga, Baron Alberto is hit with the ugly stick. XD He looks drunk in the first panel, blegh. :/ Also note in the last panel Alice is crossing her arms across her chest. "Ew, I've been violated!"
"I'M-A BARON A-ALBERTO, NUMBERA ONE"
Needless to say, Alberto doesn't shine that well in the manga. :P He's got more class in the movie. Here's he's brash in a borderline psychotic kinda way. XD Not that it stops Team Rocket. Hell, read what they're saying. Loot? What loot!? God Alberto, you better guard your ass. XD
Even Lickylicky is more aggressive than the normal reluctant goofball in the movie. XDDD;;; Ah well, Alberto can cope with not having everything. :P Stupid egotistical asshole he is. XDD!
Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's Tonio! As he utters one of the few lines completely adapted from the film. XD You may notice something different about him later... for now I'm just boggling over what Baron Alberto said in the final panel. "Dude, did Baron Alberto just call Tonio a cunt!? Wait, let me read that again... okay nevermind. Whoops."
Poor Tonio. He looks like he's got a black eye and been up for who knows how many nights. Did he sleep in the bushes fending off Burmy and Pokemon with sharp pointy teeth or something?
P.S. The whole "engaged to Alberto"/"You see? TONIO'S the one I like!" thing was skipped. Not because Puri did so out of disgust... there isn't any romance in the manga adaptation. Meaning? No "canon" Accordshipping. So you know what this means...

Ash gets up and walks around. No Pikachu this time, but he DOES find...
...I wish. XD But what he DOES encounter is drawn much creepier in good ol' black-and-white comic form.

Major difference between Manga!Tonio and Movie!Tonio: Manga!Tonio has pupils. Tonio has no answers yet, but he does find Jesus.
Ash and Alice go out for a walk while Ash is all humph about his nightmare. Alice points out something weird about the sky.
Darkrai: Hey! You kids! Get off my lawn!
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM. Where's GIR when you need him!?

X333 My poor copy's bindings are getting mutilated through the scanning, but it's done out of love rather than sadistic glee~ ♥ We haven't gotten to Darkrai and Alicia yet... but when we do, you can guarantee the wait will be worth it. ;_______________;
Puri started a new game of Pokemon Gold. :o It couldn't remember what time it was though it still had my old save data. I wonder if it'll still remember I saved at Bellsprout Tower tomorrow. :o
