We're two posts in, therefore two Pokémon will be sharing the spotlight today! Chilvary lives on... meet Gardevoir and Gallade!

Name: #282 Gardevoir/Sirknight
Type: Psychic
Species: Embrace Pokémon
Abilities: Synchronize/Trace/Telepathy
PuriDex: Gardevoir has the ability to read the future, distort the dimensions and create a small black hole. It apparently does not feel the pull of gravity because it supports itself with psychic power. If it senses impending danger to its Trainer, this Pokémon is said to unleash its psychokinetic energy at full power. Its power peaks when it is protecting a Trainer it has closely bonded with, guarding them even at the risk of its own life.
Puri's Nickname(s): Rydia (♀), Oriya (♂)
Notable Celebrities: Gardevoir (Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team & Blue Rescue Team), Team Charm's Gardevoir (Mystery Dungeon 2: Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky)

Long ago (wow), Ruby/Sapphire was in the making and the list of Hoenn's Pokémon was announced. Like any Pokéfan, I browsed feverishly, finding mon I liked and others I didn't care about so much. But when I saw the Ralts line, I immediately stopped and said, "I've got to have this in my party when the games come out." Ralts was cute, Kirlia was pretty, and Gardevoir had to be one of the most beautiful Pokémon I had ever seen. When Wally caught one, I searched the grass for hours in hopes of finding one of my own. And wow, was it worth it. Gardevoir is one of my staples in my Hoenn teams. ;;

Gardevoir has one of my favorite Species titles... the "Embrace" Pokémon. Aww. She lives up to that name too... not only is she beautiful, she's absolutely selfless. Sure, you have a lot of Pokémon willing to fight to protect you, but Gardevoir can see her own future but still gives her life anyway. And she can create black holes. How cool is that? It's also telling that her entire devotion to her trainer is what this Pokémon is most famous for... making her possibly the most loyal Pokémon on Earth. Dang.

Yes, I do train male Gardevoirs. That's another part of their charm; Pokémon don't conform to gender norms. :P

Name: #475 Gallade/Erureido
Type: Psychic/Fighting
Species: Blade Pokémon
Abilities: Steadfast/Justified
PuriDex: A master of courtesy and swordsmanship, it fights and protects by extending its elbows as if they were swords and fights savagely. Because it can sense what its foe is thinking, its attacks burst out first, fast, and fierce. They battle with gusts of luminous wind and strange orbs. It can create shock waves around itself that pause its opponent. It also fake attacks.
Puri's Nickname(s): Hisoka
Notable Celebrities: Team Raider's Gallade (Mystery Dungeon 2: Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky), Ice's Gallade (Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia)

"HOLY SHIT HE LOOKS AWESOME" were my words when I first saw Gallade's sprite. I'm an absolute sucker for blade/swordsman-esque Pokémon (as you will see in upcoming entries) and Gallade hits all my buttons in all the right ways. Another party staple, he was also one of the first Pokémon I've levelled to 100... a Gallade named Poo, which probably isn't a good name if you don't know he was named after a certain Dalaamese prince from "Earthbound." That said, Poo the Gallade most likely detests me on "A Boy Named Sue" term. Anyway, Psychic/Fighting is an amazing combination and he works it like a fucking gladiator. I adore his attacks: Psycho Cut. Night Slash. Leaf Blade. Close Combat. Wooooooow. *________* Sure, it makes him a glass cannon, but what better way to repay his chilvary by having my other Pokémon guard him in return? Teamwork to sweep through the Battle Frontier and Subways, fuck yeah. 8)

Gardevoir is no pushover...

Photobucket

...And neither is Gallade. They're Pokémon you can rely on for life! (Literally!) In other news, I'd totally love to be carried like this by my own Pokémon. *fangirl sigh*

Photobucket

Gardevoir is gorgeous and elegant...

Photobucket

...While Gallade is totally handsome. 8) DEM HIPS MAN.

Photobucket

It's gonna be kinda difficult to switch between the two.

Photobucket

But dangit, I'll do my best!

Photobucket

Dear god, this is heartbreaking. ;;

Photobucket

Then I'm immediately cheered up again. Just another day in the life of a knight. ♥

Photobucket

Way to wring the tears out of me, Mystery Dungeon. ;;

Photobucket

On the other hand, I don't remember much of Team Raider at all. Gallade doesn't show up a lot in the Pokémon media, unfortunately. ;;

Photobucket

"Dawn Stone or levels, who says I can't do both? X("

Photobucket

i think ur doin it rong.

Photobucket

Nice robes. :o

Photobucket

Dammit Gallade, you're not cooperating with me. >(

Photobucket

Posting this pic for two reasons: A. The rare male Gardevoir. B. I wanted an excuse to show off two Togekisses in the background. Mwoiiiiiing~!

Photobucket

The best part is that this can either be het or yaoi and I'd perfectly be okay with it. As long as we don't mention seme/uke roles. Leave me to my happy fantasy, dagnabbit!

Anyway, this post is getting a little too long. Let's end it on a happy note, shall we? :)

But in this brotherhood I still believe
And for the ones we've lost my soul will grieve
Yet through the world alone I wander for I know somewhere
I will find my brothers, by the sword I swear!

I wonder who #3 will be! Hmm...

Baww, Gardevoir is awesome!! And Gallade's pretty cool too.

I actually have a Gardevoir in Platinum. Her name is Euphemia, and I used her against Saturn's Toxicroak. She kicked ASS once she learned Psychic. I used to have a male Ralts in Ruby, but then I started the game over to start a Nuzlocke challenge. Oh well....

I actually have this theory about Gallade and Gardevoir, and that's that in Sinnoh kids always expect that their male Ralts will one day be a Gallade (this doesn't often happen, however, since Dawn Stones are so rare), whereas in Hoenn, Dawn Stones are basically unheard of and Gardevoir is treated as the only true evolution for the Ralts line. I have this story in mind where Barry, the DPPt rival, goes to Hoenn for an Amazing-Race-type function, and he meets Wally and his (male!) Gardevoir, which promotes a long discussion about male Gardevoir vs. Gallade (where Barry's all "ZOMG you've got a male Gardevoir? But Gallade is beast!" and Wally's all, "Why shouldn't I have a male Gardevoir? Everyone knows that Gardevoir's the only TRUE Ralts final evo!").

I have tons of headcanons to differentiate the regions; hopefully someday they'll find their way into an actual story.

If you think about it, Sinnoh as a region seems to be a fairly mystical and eldritch place even by the standards of the Pokeverse as a whole. I can imagine how certain things that are taken for granted over there (such as Dawn Stones, for one; but also the ready supply of legendary dragons and fairies, etc.) would be considered faintly creepy elsewhere (this was, after all, the region that produced Cyrus and Cynthia, those Eldritch-Abomination-seekers). So I can imagine how a Hoennese trainer might look at a Sinnohvian trainer with a Gallade and say "EEW WHY DID YOU TRANSMOGRIFY YOUR PRECIOUS PRECIOUS KIRLIA YOU MONSTER!!!"

♥ Ralts line forever~~~ I have so many of these I've raised...though to be fair, more Gardevoirs than Gallades. I need to rectify this~
