So! Jirachi movie! *_________* Gosh lemme type this down before I get distracted.

- OH GOD. What a surprise! I'm so happy to be liking a Pokemon movie again. Hell, when I realized it was around halfway in the movie and I was still interested, that was enough to get me excited. Plus Mewtwo in a cape. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeee!

- The Pokemon were badass in this! Absol was the mysterious Lone Guardian (and he broke out of his cage and blasted Butler and Mightyena! PWN'D! :D), I cheered at Flygon and was delighted she kicked ass, and I actually liked Salamence more than I thought. Jirachi himself is precious. I think he's the most innocent out of all the cute Legendaries; he reminds me of how Jirachi is played at [livejournal.com profile] pokedressing. That's the Jirachi he was based on, right? :o ("YAY! I said something other than YAY! =DDD") His friendship with Max was sweet without being overbearing (Oh Max. ;____;) and the whimpers and shrieks he made while bond to the machine were fucking horrible. I wanted to hurt Butler and punch him in the face for not caring what obvious agony he was in like that. :/

- Speaking of Butler, I liked him. And Diane! I was especially impressed with Diane, but more on that in a bit. May was a new character, so the Pokemon Creators didn't play favorites and I snickered whenever she pouted over Jirachi and Max. But her little count-down wish charm was a nice touch, and I actually liked her in this movie. Hell, more than I ever have for her own film! XDDDD It was sweet when she was worried about Max and ran out to hug him and cried. Nice sibling interaction like that.

- May's lullaby. Usually the Pokemon movie themes don't play until the credits, but here, Chiisaki Mono was actually central to the plot in a Hustle & Flow kinda way, and Jirachi even asks everyone to sing it before he went back to sleep. Didn't mind May's singing that much either, so it's all good.

- As far as canon movieships go (not counting the "unstated" ones. ;D) Butler/Diane >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Alice/Tonio. Seriously. Carnivalshipping makes Accordshipping look like a friggin' teenage Harlequin novel if it hasn't already. I liked that there was actual maturity and development, and that in order for them to get together, one had to disobey the other. Diane was just doing what Butler says whether she likes it or not. Then when she realizes how batshit Butler's gotten, she escapes with Jirachi and gang and leaves him, because the only way she could save him was if he realized what a mistake he was making and he had to see the consequences on his own. He'd get his wish, but is it what he really wants? And Butler DOES snap out of it; Diane is the price for this, since she pushes him out of the way of his own rampaging creation. Then Butler helps out Ash, Max and Jirachi, holding out as long as he could before he sacrifices himself to save Jirachi. Luckily for everyone, Flaunz is saved, and Butler and Diane are reunited and start their lives over. Gotta say, those two worked for their happy ending. No wonder they earned two cameos! (See: Movie 8 credits, "Felix" & "Dana" in D/P/PT)

- I like the Pokemon Constellations and fireworks. Nice touch!

- FUCKING FAKE!GROUDON. Seriously, it was the most badass thing since WHOA. Fuck the original Groudon, this one's a billion times more interesting! It mutated like Uboa sludge from Nazca symbols! It killed land by sucking its lifeforce via blue tentacles, aka the same stuff the Great Forest Spirit from Mononoke Hime was made of! As if tentacles weren't bad enough; they turn into toothed serpents too. GOD IT'S HENTAI ANIME. The Pokemon and human victims inside the Fake!Groudon were turned into red blood cells; SOMETHING inspired Movie 8's Tree of Origin. :o That giant thing was just creepy and awesome, and when Butler defended Jirachi, he spread his arms out and was swallowed up like a gooey cross while apologizing to everyone. RELIGIOUS SYMBOLISM Y/N? Also all the red sludge that buried Ash and Max, ewwwwww. I LOVE THIS KIND OF CREEPINESS IN POKEMON.

- I watched the Japanese version. Go figure, Kōichi Yamadera's voice makes me swoon inside.

And now, to watch Ed Wood's "Glen or Glenda?" with the family~ ♥
