Why Puri Doesn't Engage with Hellaverse Drama
I feel dirty defending Vivziepop, but geez, people talk about Stolas like he's on the same level as Christian Grey and Edward Cullen, and a lot of the conversation around him and Blitz is disgusting.
1. They talk like the narrative bends over backwards to absolve Stolas of any and all wrongdoing, but like... I'm not seeing it? Like yeah, the show wants you to root for Blitz and Stolas to overcome the dysfunctional parts of their relationship and get better, but going as far as to say he's never called out? At the end of second season, he's stripped of his royalty, everybody but Blitz & Co. despises him, and he's been publicly called out and disowned by Olivia. The poor choices he made in the earlier seasons are coming back to bite him in the ass.
2. They say that Stolas regards himself as The Victim, and that he has never suffered a day in his life. While completely ignoring that Stella is so abusive that she eventually drove him to take depression meds. Plus the thing about why he didn't just divorce her and find another wife completely ignores the complex dynamics of the royal family and why he stuck so long with her (and he DID divorce her after banging Blitz, and we saw what a fucked up process that was) Like yes, cheating on Stella is a dick move on his part. But this whole thing gives me vibes of "men can't be domestic abuse victims of women" and "wHy dIdNt YoU jUsT lEaVe"
3. Fans sobbing that Blitz is a "rape victim" and that Stolas is evil incarnate, as if Stolas never considered the power dynamics of their relationship and gave Blitz a goddamn transportation jewel so he didn't have to borrow his Grimoire anymore (therefore, Blitz won’t have to feel obligated to stay with him) Once again, I have seen how fandom treats IRL rape survivors. You bet as soon as they don't fit their "perfect victim" mold, those same people bending over backwards for cartoon characters will tell real survivors that they "deserved it."
I don't consider myself Stolas's biggest fan, but god. Congratulations Stolas hatedom, you got me defending him.
