I mean yes, Disney did awful things like herd lemmings off a cliff for a documentary and movies like "Song of the South" have a lot of Unfortunate Implications, but sometimes people go WAY too far and over-analyze the films just to find something ZOMG AWFUL!!11!11 to nitpick. Belle stayed at the castle in the first place to save her dad, and refused to have dinner with the Beast 'cause he was a fucking jerkass. She didn't take his crap, both before and after he saved her from the wolves. And the night she realized her father was sick and she wanted to help him? The Beast let her go.
I don't know, I just never got the impression that BatB was about "changing him." Beast had to do that on his own. He started to respect Belle for her assertiveness and intelligence (for beauty is found within and all that), and she respected him back in return. And that was when they fell in love with each other.
